Sound Your Best, Wherever You Are

Your non-stop life keeps you on the move. You answer a call in the car, keep talking out on the street, and say your goodbyes while leaving the coffee shop - and you expect to sound your best everywhere. The Plantronics Voyager Edge Bluetooth headset reliably eliminates unwanted noise with three precisely tuned microphones and enhanced noise cancelling, optimising your voice so your caller hears you, not your surroundings. Additionally, this headset is ready for wideband audio, making it compatible with smartphones enabled for HD Voice

Using the portable charging case gives up to 16 hours of talk time

Carry the Conversation, Not the Phone

Voyager Edge packs in responsive features to let you answer calls, use voice commands, and hear important status notifications without even looking at your phone. Smart sensor technology senses when the headset is being worn so it can automatically answer calls as you place the headset on your ear or redirect audio to your phone when you set down your headset. Voyager Edge syncs to your contacts, telling you who's calling before you answer and voice commands make call management easy - simply say "Answer" to take the call, or "Ignore" to send it to voicemail. Now your "phone hand" can carry a coffee, greet someone, or open a door.

Stay Connected Longer

Be ready when life calls. Using the portable, wireless charging case to top up your Voyager Edge between calls will keep you powered throughout your day by giving you up to 10 additional hours of talk time. Status alerts announce when it's time to recharge, but if at any time you're curious, use a voice command to hear remaining talk time, visually check battery status on your smartphone, or dock your Voyager Edge in its case and tap the touch-sensitive icons to see the meter LEDs light up.

Enhanced by Free Plantronics Apps

Simplify your communication experience with a variety of free apps from Plantronics for both iOS and Android devices. Use the free Plantronics Hub app to explore features, change settings, check the connection, battery and smart sensor status, and even help you locate your lost headset. If you misplace your Voyager Edge, use the Find MyHeadset feature to send an audible tone to help you locate it nearby, or if it's out of Bluetooth range or powered off, you can use the Backtrack activity log to map where it was last in use. The Find MyHeadset feature is part of the Plantronics Hub app for iOS but remains a standalone app for Android.

Helps you throughout the day, every day

To help you sort through your busy workday, the Plantronics InstantMeeting app automatically identifies conference calls and dialing details from your calendar, reminds you just before the meeting is scheduled to begin, and with one touch connects you to your conference call - no need to pull over and toggle between screens to find all those numbers and access codes.

I've used a few headsets but mainly those at the lower cost end of the market and, although in their niches they are fine, this Plantronics Voyager Edge sets a new standard (to me anyway!). I also co-opted a taxi driver friend of mine to field test this device.

In the box you get the headset, a charging case with built in battery, car charger and micro USB cable, silicone eartips in S,M,L sizes, a ear-loop and instructions. The headset itself feels and looks really nicely made, is moisture resistant and has multiple microphones with special audio technology to eliminate background noise and echo. Also, the control buttons are nicely raised and shaped to identify them - using this device soon became intuitive.

We found the headset to be very light (it weighs 9g) and it felt good to wear especially if you select the right size of ear-bud. The sound quality is loud and clear and distinguishes the Voyager from cheaper headsets through its crispness, It is also apparent that the caller hears your voice much more clearly too with an absence of surrounding noise. The Voyager supports HD audio and NFC enabled smartphones too.

On receiving a call the headset announces the caller's name and all you need to do is issue the voice command "answer". If you aren't wearing the headset by putting it on sensors will detect that and automatically answer. Conversely, if you take the headset off when you receive an incoming call it will automatically transfer the call to your phone - you can of course turn off these sensor activated features if you wish. Battery life without using the additional charging capacity of the case is around 6 hours from an 1.5 hour charge. We also found the Bluetooth range to be good and interference free up to around 10 metres.

I've purchased this with the intention of just using it for driving but I like it so much that I ended up using for other purposes like:
- Talking and reading the newspaper while on the bus.
- Hooking it up to my computer for internet conference calls instead of using a wired headset.
- Streaming music.
- Talking hands free while cycling (Wouldn't really advise if it's windy as the other person won't be able to hear you).

The headset is not completely immune to background noise and from the receiver's end the sound is not as good as if I were to hold a phone to my ear, but there is a decent level of noise cancellation nevertheless.

Good features that I really like:
- Auto answer with voice commands
- Auto answer just by putting the headset in my ear.
- When in a call, it auto switch sound to phone just by removing the headset.
- Announces name of caller when someone rings so you don't have to take your phone out to see who is calling.
- Superb battery life. For my usage, from fully charged, the overall battery of charging case + headset lasts for an entire week.
- It has wideband audio (HD voice). Not many network providers provides this service yet so it's not mainstream, but I can imagine that when wideband audio is widely available from network providers, the sound from a phone call will be crystal clear. The technology on this headset definitely won't be outdated for many years to come.

Things I don't like about it:
Perhaps I might be slightly deaf, but I think the maximum volume on this isn't high enough. Definitely not the same loudness as you would expect if you max the volume on a wired earphone. I hope Plantronics will acknowledge this problem and can fix this as a firmware upgrade.

This bluetooth headset is the business. Really lovely build quality and excellent functionality.

It takes next to no time to fully charge and when it is sitting on its little cradle thingy, it keeps it topped up. The little rubber ear clip thing takes a little while to get used to. It felt like it was going to fall out all the time but actually it wasn't and now I am confident to use it without the black plastic ear click supplied. The soft clear plastic nicely folds it in.

It does some really clever things like answers the call as you put it in your ear. I am using it with an iPhone and you can activate Siri with it to phone contacts or ask a question. Bluetooth audio streaming is something new so you can listen to podcasts on the move. Obviously it in not in stereo and only in one ear so the quality of sound is not great but for speech it certainly does the job.

The whole thing, including the charging station, fits nicely into the pocket and although the rubberised surface can get a bit fluffy, it is not really a problem to wipe it off.

The battery life is excellent and the buttons are easily accessible. The sound quality at the other end is generally OK although my wife complains if I am speaking to her via her car audio bluetooth that the sound is too loud but that may be a feedback problem in her car as I have had no other complaints.

The product summary is a very good guide as to the detailed features. I am not going to repeat them as I am using this mostly for the basic features but, in summary, the sounds quality of good, build quality is excellent, the battery life if excellent (hours of talk time between charges - it announces the estimated talk time when you turn it on!).
