First impressions,
By
This review is from: Plantronics GameCom 377 Open-Ear Gaming Headset with concealed noise-cancelling microphone boom (Personal Computers)
I got this headset earlier so it hasn't stood the test of time yet but I want to give my first impressions. I will update the review at a later date to include more information.Alright, so setting up. I had a bit of a hiccup here but nothing to do with the headset. My built-in sound didn't seem up to the job of a mic, it was very quiet although sound from the headphones was perfect. After a few checks I concluded that it was down to hardware so dug out an old sound card and fitted it. After that the mic worked fine. Sound quality is more than satisfactory, definately good enough for gaming, I've tried it out on left 4 dead and it makes me feel as if am actually there than my speakers do. Mic quality is good enough for gaming but definately not good enough for professional use in recording if anybody was thinking about it. Durability seems sound, not noticed anything obvious which could break. Somebody else mentioned the extenders but they seem to withstand a fair amount of force. No really cheap plastic is used, all of the product seems sturdy. Comfort could be a bit of a knockdown, I got pains where the pads put pressure, possibly a little too tight for me, although I do have an above average head size! The headset has a nice appearance, none of this Apache Pilot stuff, it looks like a gaming headset. Only regret here is that the red plastic would be much better if it had LEDs behind it. Finally, onto the additional features. There is a handy clip on the wire if you like to have your wires clipped to you, or anything else for that matter. Control switch - put at a reasonable length down the wire, it offers a volume control dial and a mute switch. Retractable and swivel arm for mic - The mic can be pulled out a bit to suit your needs and can also swivel up to hide away on the arm of the headset to avoid any damage if it is not in use. A good addition which shows Plantronics care about there products and consumers and not just send out junk which can empty our wallets. Ratings: Out of 10 Ease of use: 8 Sound Quality: 7 Mic Quality: 7 Comfort: 6 Looks: 9 Features: 9 Overall: 46 out of 60. A decent well made product which has gained my immediate respect for Plantronics.

Good quality sound, comfortable - what else do you need? Also, the length of the cable is perfect for watching movies on your computer from your bed or a comfy bed placed in a good distance from your PC. I mainly use them for that purpose and for Skype and have no complaints whatsoever.
