a wonderful book 13 Mar 2010
By downkiddie VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover
I love reading work by Carol Klein. Her warm and eloquent prose is as good as the great garden writers like Vita Sackville-West and Christopher Lloyd, and her enthusiasm for her subject makes you want to get outside and grow the plants she talks about. Her knowledge of her subject is second to none, and the layout and style of this book makes it genuinely useful when planning a garden and choosing plants.

plants 2 Dec 2004

Format:Hardcover
This is such a fun idea, and engagingly written. I loved this book - I found it hugely entertaining but also learnt a lot about plants. The pictures are beautiful and really support her text and ideas. A book for plant lovers and novices alike.

this book is a must-have for any passionate advanced gardener ... or the enthusiastic beginner, who reads about cinderellas, gatecrashers and drama queens with a botanical dictionary resp. wikipedia close by ... either way, it's exciting and funny, philosophical and magical ...
BUT: you should read/whatch "Life in a Cottage Garden" first, to SEE, what Carol Klein is talking about ...
