The author and garden designer behind this book is one of the most inspirational designers I know of, and also very good about putting his ideas and thinking into words and getting those ideas across to the lay reader. I was very pleased to have ordered this book, as I am in the process of having to downsize from a fairly large rural garden to a much smaller plot in the middle of the city and needed to start feeling inspired and motivated! This book did exactly that. Great images, and really good descriptions of the various garden designs included (by Andy and others) to really understand their layout and details - as well as more general chapters about materials and ways to think about areas of garden usage. The one negative point I have with the book really must come down to the publishers - there are several really serious typos in the text - in several places the image captions are attached to the wrong images, which gets very confusing - and in one section about one of Andy Sturgeon's garden designs the first half of his text about the design is repeated twice across two pages, and the second half of his text is completely missing. This is seriously annoying as the design he was writing about is my favourite in the whole book and I now only know half of what he wanted to say about it! Infuriating, and such a shame that such a good book from such an important designer has been treated in such a slipshod manner.
