Great ideas for planning lessons and courses. Lots of useful information for anyone studying for TEFL exams or a new teacher looking for ideas. Good advise and practical activities. Takes the chore out of planning, with some true stories and enthusiasm.

'Planning Lessons and Courses' is a very valuable book for new teachers wishing to teach English to speakers of other languages. The Cambridge series (Handbooks for Language Teachers) is excellent and this is one of the books in this series. It provides plenty of practical guidelines at the level of lesson planning and this is an area where most newly qualified English language teachers need plenty of guidance. There is also a lot of useful guidance on planning courses. Well worth buying.

Some excellent ideas for English teachers around the world 20 Jun 2010
By Joel Hopkinson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I used this book as a set text for a Curriculum and Materials Design course I attended as part of a Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second or Other Language. So it is a text that I have studied closely and used extensively to complete assignments related to the topics of lesson, curriculum and syllabus development and evaluation. It contains many interesting ideas that would be very useful for any teacher, especially a teacher of English as a foreign or second language. This book is a definite keeper. I have implemented some of the simpler activities in my classes (I have been teaching English in South Korea for over 8 years) and have found them to be very effective. Some of the tips and activities such as "an animal a day" and "window breaks" have been lifesavers in class. I intend to use this book thoroughly next semester and see if I can create a more varied and active class.
