This book is extremely informative, explaining every aspect of child development clearly and concisely. The chapters on theorists are excellent and very well written. Out of the tens of childcare books I have read, this is the one that has explained topics in the most effective way. It provides a solid foundation for understanding wider reading of the different subjects. Planning Play and the Early Years has been my best friend throughout my childcare course.

I have been studying for my Btec for the past 2 years and now I have progressed to the Hnc. Although this book contains alot of useful information, it is fairly limited and I have found many more books that cover a wider area such as Child Care and Education by Tina Bruce & Carolyn Meggitt.
