Work of genius I. 13 May 2006
Format:Audio CD
Sherinian's first solo album. He was fired from Dream Theater while working on this one and I'd say he really wanted to show the world how great player he is. And he is. I like his sound, his soloing, his composing. Alice Cooper's quote says "He is arrogance personified" and you can feel it - very self-confident and ... well ... brilliant!

Album starts with Atlantis trilogy (later live on Planet X's Live from Oz) and continues with another 7 masterpieces. Well, you've got Derek on keyboards, Brett Garsed on guitar, Tony Franklin on bass and Virgil Donati on drums. How does it sound? As great as the music itself.

Huh? 15 Nov 2005

I can't believe the person in the other review only gave this 3 stars. Insanity. This is the best Sherinian album out of the 4 solo discs so far. Worth buying for the first 4 tracks alone.

Format:Audio CD
I bought this CD expecting a host of keyboard lead tracks from the ex-Dream Theater wiz. Imagine my surprise when these songs start to rock with fantastic drumming from Virgil Donati (co-writer of the album) together with some solid guitar & bass work from Brett Garsed & Tony Franklin. For most of the album Derrick Sherinian is quite happy just providing the rythm or chords for the others to play over, but when he does let rip with the lead or solo's, his unique style shines through. This is very listenable progressive instrumental rock, but I was dissappointed with the weak fade-out's to a couple of tracks.
