Planet Waves S.O.S tuners tune to standard tuning using Strobe technology. After the musician has selected the string they wish to tune from the data wheel, the pick-sized tuner will pulse two LED lights out and onto the vibrating string where the lights will visually dance upon the string when the musician is flat or sharp. As the musician approaches being in tune, the lights will begin to slow down and stabilise, and will eventually slow down and line up to a complete stop when perfect tuning is attained. This visual tuning system allows for precision tuning in silent or dark environments, without the need for audible sound or sensing of any kind.
