Susan Rennie is an editor who has worked on several Scots language reference projects and created print, CD and web materials in Scots for children, including The Electronic Scots School Dictionary (1998) and (co-authored with Matthew Fitt) the Grammar Broonie (2000). She is currently editor of the electronic Dictionary of the Scots Language at Dundee University.

This is a great story but the 'Scots' language is like nothing I've ever heard! It's a curious jumble of highland, doric and coarsened 'big city' pronunciation. Friends and colleagues with experience of different regions found it as puzzling as I did. Perhaps the author was trying too hard to be all-inclusive?
