I couldn't resist this when I saw it had been re-released on CD. I played the LP almost to destruction when it first came out, but it's been sitting in a dusty cupboard with all my other vinyl for more years than I care to remember. I knew that the big tunes - 'Cheap thrills' and 'Play at your own risk' - would hold up, but was a bit surprised at how much I enjoyed hearing the whole album again (even the Gary Glitter cover!) What distinguished Planet Patrol from their stablemates was the quality of their vocals - they were almost the electro version of the Temptations. It's a great pity that they didn't record more (and also that this album wasn't longer).
The final, pointless 'bonus' track - a version of 'Play at your own risk' by Lil'l Jon featuring Lathun - is simply downright pitiful and serves to prove just how good Planet Patrol were.
