This is more of an art book than a useful, inspirational cupcake decorating book which I was hoping for. Instead of photos, the instructions are drawn!! Extremely off putting and a complete cop out!! The most feesible design is on the front cover..the majority of designs are far too faffy and complex to ever attempt...afterall we are talking about cupcakes..not an elaborate celebration cake here. I consider myself a professional cupcake maker who sells bulk bespoke cupcakes..if I was to ever produce any of these designs my labour would be sky high with very little monetary gain!! And if you haven't got an airbrush kit, kiss goodbye to attempting many of the designs...all in all a very bad buy!!

There are some very elaborate and intricate designs for decorating cupcakes in this book. However, they are complicated and will take a very long time to complete. There are lots of instructions and lovely photos of the completed cupcakes and I may take a few ideas away but I doubt I will ever make any. Some of the designs involve having a dozen or more cupcakes arranged in a certain manner to complete the image. Novel but not very practical. Other cupcakes have so much fondant icing on them that they would be far too sickly to eat, plus, after all the time taken to make the figures such as animals sat atop the bun, it would be a shame to eat them! There are also techniques like air-brushing involved that many people will not have the equipment to do.

On saying this, it is a nice book to flick through and some of the cupcake designs have a real "wow" factor but it is a coffee table book and not a book that I will use.

I reserved this book months ago and was really looking forward to it as I love the first book a lot. But I was really let down by this one. I was looking for a book with extensive cupcake ideas such as the ones on the first book and the front cover of this book (probably the only one I really like). But what I got was a lot of overworked cupcake designs that are very impratical for a cake maker and most unuseful for home baker!

Most of them would never be ordered by anyone, or no one would ever order them and be prepared to pay for it, it is very labour intensive and you would charge to the roof for it, this is more for artistic flair rather than saleability. It's almost like they run out of ideas and had to make cupcakes there and then to meet the deadline. I also did not like that the book is more drawings than actual photos of the cupcake process. That was annoying.

Most designs are very impractical. There were a few that gives me inspiration but the rest are a let down. I dont hate it, I just dont like it. Its good to look at but thats all it is. I'm sooo sad.

Yes this book could be classed as a coffee table book but if you look closer it is a fantastic book there are so many techniques to be discovered in it which you do not need to confine to cupcakes, many of the designs can be used for one off cakes. I'm planning on doing the dinasuar coming out of a very large cupcake cake you just need to use your imagination. this is definitely a book to read from cover to cover to expand your cake designing skills. enjoy and have fun

The product description for this cake is very, very misleading. I was expecting wonderful ideas for many different occasions and all I got, apart from one section suitable only for kitchen gardeners, was cupcakes that are suitable only for children. WHAT A WASTE COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY.

This is a jaw-droppingly beautiful book and although I imagine many of the projects will remain beyond me, there is SO much information in here and the ideas are infinitely adaptable. Each project is broken down into stages, with ample illustrations and endless tips, so it's useful for avid cup-cakers and cake icers, even if you don't want to do the exact projects in the book. If I had a criticism, it'd be that I think a spray gun (not cheap!) is probably essential to get the absolute wow-factor, but I'm happy with what I can achieve with a bit of dusting powder and a dry brush. I also haven't dared to make the ganache she uses instead of buttercream for ordinary cakes, because of the cost, but I would certailnly use it for an important cake like a wedding.

I have given this 1 star because I am unable to award zero stars.
I was looking forward to creating some nice cupcakes to share with friends but these designs are definitely not for the amateur. A lot of the cakes are more fondant than cake and are obviously more for decoration than for actually eating. So many of the designs require lining your cakes up in a specific pattern to create a picture. Can't see the point of this other than, again, for decoration. This is a coffee table book or a project for someone with too much time on their hands and plenty of money to fill it. Airbrushing cupcakes? Really?
I was more than disappointed with this and will be disposing of it asap.

This book has lots of ideas, but a lot of them are not viable to reproduce for those of us making cakes for a living due as the amount I would need to charge is too much for the average budget. For beginners it also entales using a lot of equipment that wouldn't necessarily be used again aso making it an expensive exercise for them. The major issue I have with the book is the lack of photos. Yes its very arty and well drawn, but at the end of the day, I want photos as do most cooks that I know. A big disappointment as I found the general planet cake book a good buy.
