HASH(0x8bae0eb8) out of 5 stars The book is well written, but . . . 27 May 2014

The book is well written, but it is very short. The book is just the beginning of a story that stops at a point to make you purchase the second and third book in the series. Its a shame that an author has to do this to sell books. I won't purchase or read any more books by this author. Too bad, because she is a good writer.

HASH(0x8bae2120) out of 5 stars really good short book! 15 July 2013

Enjoyed this book. The author developed her characters well, showing individuality among a society known for conformity. Sadie, the main character, has a mind of her own and doesn't mind using it! There is enough of a "hook" at the end to make me want to read the next book "Plain Trouble", which is precisely what I intend to do right now!

Rachel Bauer did an excellent job. I am excited that the second book is already out. I look forward to her third installment due out in August.

HASH(0x8bae2438) out of 5 stars When do we eat? 4 July 2013
By Lauren P. Groves - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I loved the multidimensional characters , the plot, and the descriptions of Lancaster County and Amish life. The authors crafted an ending that was satisfying, but left a crack in the door for wondering what comes next. I am, however, a shameless foodie, and my favorite parts of the book were the descriptions of food preparation and meals. There's something to be said for the Amish way of slowing things down and enjoying the process of preparing and sharing sustenance.
