'The guy I read' Tom Clancy 'Cussler is hard to beat' Daily Mail

Product Description

In a Norwegian glacier during the Second World War a Nazi officer makes an extraordinary discovery - the most legendary ship of all time . . .

Sixty years later Juan Cabrillo and the crew of the Oregon - a top-secret, state-of-the-art military vessel disguised as a heap of junk - reap the terrible rewards of this find. In the Persian Gulf they encounter a cruise ship full of dead and dying. As Cabrillo attempts a rescue, the stricken liner erupts into a fireball. Cabrillo escapes with his life, and one survivor.

When he decides to probe deeper into this mystery, he finds a powerful cult obsessed with the end of the world. It is a discovery that sees the Oregon and her crew racing against time to prevent a sinister madman from using the secrets of the past to destroy the future . . .

Plague Ship is a high-stakes, high-seas adventure you won't be able to put down.

No one writes maritime adventures better than Cussler. Even the fact that this is a collaboration with a writing partner (shades James Patterson) does not detract from the thrills and excitement of this book. In fact, in some ways, the extra pair of hands seems to add a new lease of life. Here they blend ancient legend into high-tech modernity like Adam Palmer in The Moses Legacy. This book is a winner because of the all-round excitement and the brisk pace that the authors manage to keep up for 600 pages. I read it hot on the heels of David Kessler's Hidden Menace (The Dov Shamir adventures) (also with a maritime angle) and it just goes to show that a thriller doesn't have to be short in order to be fast-paced and exciting. I wish I could have given it TEN stars!

I'm a sucker for Clive's "Oregon Files".
An book which as usual with Clive's output, found me thinking that it was a spookily well-timed release, but really, all his stuff seems like it was written part from fiction and... Read more

Clive Cussler "Plague Ship"
Another great book from the pen of Clive Cussler - High recommended if you like adventure stories. Have read all his books to date - haven't come across a mediocre one yet.

Fun adventure thriller with fun action and an unusual plot
I have to admit I'm a fan of Cussler's Oregon-set tales. Led by ex-spy Juan Cabrillo, they're peopled with such an interestingly diverse cast (even more so than his Kurt Austin or... Read more

Enjoyable and engrossing
Despite some of the negative comments in other reviews I found this book engrossing and enjoyable. The stakes are pretty high, and the Oregon herself features quite prominently. Read more

Not his best work
Have to agree with some of the other reviews this is not Cussler at his best but we keep buying his books - why? Obviously we need some new blood. Read more

Oh dear...........
This book is so daft that I could barely read it. Why?

Well, we start with fairly true-to-life aerial combat over an artic convoy in 1943, realistic except that the... Read more

Excellent plot!
This must be one of the best Cussler books. A real page turner, with all the bells and whistles that Cussler has got us used to.
