5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and exhilarating! 9 April 2004
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is a great keepsake for all Placebo fans. The band are energetic and crowd-oriented in this live DVD, and would bring back loads of happy memories for anyone who's been to one of their gigs. The band is bouncy, smiley and fun, especially Brian. The set list focuses on the latest album Sleeping With Ghosts, but there are a few select favourites from older albums, such as the likes of fantastic 'Without You I'm Nothing', 'Special K', 'Bionic', as well as crowd-pleasers such as 'Pure Morning' or 'Every You Every Me'. There's no doubt that the track listing could have been better, for example with the inclusion of 'Teenage Angst' and 'My Sweet Prince', but it nevertheless is a very solid performance canvassing Placebo's career to date. Highlights for me include the excellent 'Soulmates' ('Sleeping With Ghosts' rock version), 'Where is My Mind' (with guest star Frank Black) and 'Protège Moi'.
The documentary is great! Stefan's 'gay dancing' is worth the price of the DVD alone. Some awesome on-the-road footage and just a fun, general look at the band behind the scenes. Placebo is one of those bands that makes you fall in love with its charismatic members, and the documentary will show you why.
There are two hidden scenes in the DVD. The first is Brian getting an injection and features a longer shot of 'Brian butt' that appeared for a split second in the documentary. It can be accessed through the main menu, by selecting 'set list' with your cursor and pressing the up button on your remote. The second hidden scene is candid footage of the band at a club performance, wearing women's wigs. That one can be accessed first by going to the 'audio' menu, selecting the 'stereo' option with your cursor, and then pressing the up button.
A must-have for all Placebo fans! And remember to show it to your non-Placebo-fan friends because they'll be converted after that!

5.0 out of 5 stars Placebo rock Paris like never before 13 Feb 2004
This is a DVD of one of the greatest moments in Placebo's career. This is a full length DVD of the sold out gig at the 18,000 person Paris Bercy. There is also docmentary footage of the band on tour in Europe. This is the first concert DVD they have released and will not disappoint. Stand out points from this gig were the french language version of 'Protect Me From What I Want' and the colaboration with Frank Black (The Pixies) on the cover of 'Where Is My Mind' As a veteran of many Placebo gigs and someone who was at the Bercy show I can say this was a fantastic preformance that lives up to the bands usual high standards. A must buy item for anyone who likes Placebo.

Recorded live in Paris last October, UK-based trio Placebo gave the performance of their lives and thankfully it was captured on tape for those who never experienced it.
From start to finish, the set is amazing, Brian's voice doesn't seem to give up on the audience, Stefan's crowd interactions got the audience into a frenzy, and both all the music is performed so good, i can look back at Sleeping With Ghosts and regret the review i gave it.
Inevitably starting with Bulletproof Cupid, Placebo travel from the rocky numbers of Bionic and Bitter End, the creepy numbers like Special Needs and Soulmates (Sleeping With Ghosts), the poppy tunes of This Picture, Special K and Slave To The Wage, to the piano driven songs Peeping Tom and Centrefolds. The concert ends with an appearance from Frank Black on the rock n roll anthem Where is My Mind?
Also watch out for the french version of Protect Me From What I Want (who says Brian ain't a cunning linguist eh?).
Nearly a decade into their career and Placebo have reached the top at last, so take a bow guys for you have performed a concert of a lifetime!
Buy and enjoy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars oh my god how much did that rock! 24 Nov 2004
Wow what can i say i've seen them live, i have all the albums (even the latest singles one) but this concert is a masterpiece.
Placebo rock with out doubt this is the best ever music dvd i have seen.
Every song is performed to perfection, i've changed my favourite about 10 times now. Think i've finally decide on 'i'll be yours' and english summer rain' but who care every song they perform is class.
U know a week band has bad songs or one defining album. Most people percieve placebo are known for there 1st two albums. But there new stuff is even better, doesnt happen with many if any artists.
Of course i dont want to bore u, just buy the dvd and enjoy it

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Music DVDs ever... 20 Feb 2004
By A Customer
I've been lucky enough to see a review copy of this title and can safely say its amazing. Its what the format was invented for - and will answer any critics of the band. Highlights are endless - but Protect Me sung in French in front of a manic Parisian crowd takes some beating.
The documentary is hilarious, touching and enjoyable too.
Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Faaaantastic. 5 Jan 2005
After seeing Placebo live, I was slightly dubious as to whether this DVD would capture the sheer brilliance of their performance. However, after just thirty seconds it did just that. After opening with 'Bulletproof Cupid', Placebo kick out all the best, old and new. The tour documentary is also definitely worth a watch, with some funny sections involving Stefan and a badger, and not to mention a quick peek of my favourite ladyboy's ass. Delivered with typical Molko flamboyance, it's a DVD you'll want to watch over and over again.
