This is not a criticism of the book itself but of the synopsis supplied which mentions 20 destinations but does not specify the countries. I ordered this book because we are interested in moving to Florida which has been featured on the channel 4 series. this book does not cover that area and is, therefore, of no use to us personally. I would recommend that the synopsis identifies the countries covered so as to avoid other purchasers making this mistake

What a fantastic book! After watching A Place in the Sun every day on tele for the past few weeks, I thought I'd buy this book so that I can refer back to featured locations if my husband and I ever decided to buy abroad. However, when I received the book I was so chuffed as it has not only the properties featured but also a write up about each location, helpful websites, a temperature guide and a basic guide on what your money would buy you. Invaluable!! I would say however that this book is NOT one to buy if you are looking to find out detailed information on the processes of buying abroad. It does have a page on each country and highlights the important parts but this is only a brief guide. I also bought the blue A place in the Sun (Favourite Destinations) book and this is much better in this respect although it's not as comprehensive with its description of the locations. I would say buy both!!

This book is really well put together.
It is all there; descriptions of the area, highlights/major towns, climate graphs, typical property prices and buying guides.
This book only covers mainland Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Portugal) and some of the associated islands (Ibiza, Corfu, Fuerteventura).
It is sectioned into main chapters covering Beach areas, countryside, mountains and Islands.
It also includes very useful buying guides for each of the main countries featured, and useful checklists at the end of the book.
The book was first published in 2003, and this edition in 2005; hence the prices for the properties are probably all below reality now, but still a useful benchmark between the areas covered.
Interesting to note just how many of the Brits with the urge to relocate are builders! And many of the others have language skills already.
A very useful book - like I said, it is all there for anybody with the dream of buying abroad.
