The characters step off the page and into your living room to delight you with their attempts to avoid each other, out manouever their families and their friends and accomplish their financial and personal goals. As much as I enjoyed Shaye and Cody (showers will never be the same, again), the other characters were so much fun that you want to know them better, too. Anyone who enjoys romance will enjoy this wonderful and entertaining story by a very talented writer. I can't wait to see her next book! When will it be on the market, Ms Aitken?
Shaye Frazier's meeting with the final landowner standing in her client's way of creating a huge preservation didn't exactly go as she'd planned. She didn't expect to be so attracted to him, nor did she expect to fall for the handsome part Cheyenne cowboy.
If you are looking for a well-written and engrossing romance, look no further than A Place Called Home. Judie's love of her Native American heritage shows through in her writing. She portrays real emotions through her characters' plights and circumstances, and weaves heated tension and desire between Cody and Shaye. Cody's struggle with trying to save his land, be a good influence to his young sister and his growing desire for the lawyer woman show Aitken's talent in keeping the story interesting with revolving circumstances. Shaye is a strong heroine to match Cody, which makes the heated tension all the more realistic without going too fast. Shaye's character has struggles of her own between her loyalties and her increasing feelings for Cody. Don't miss this next book by Judie Aitken. It's a bit different than A Love Beyond Time, but this just shows her diversity as a writer.
Though the circumstances behind the first meeting are sad and that initial encounter unpleasant, Shaye and Cody are attracted to one another. With Maribeth and inadvertently Glenn playing matchmakers, the rancher and the big city lawyer fall in love. However, will they find the ground to begin to forge a permanent relationship?
A PLACE CALLED HOME is an enjoyable contemporary romance due to Judie Aitken's ability to mix humor and compassion without slowing down the prime plot. The story line is fun though the conflict and tension between the lead characters feel as if they resolved too easily. Still the strong characters gain empathy especially the lead male, as readers will feel Cody's pain while forced to sell his family heritage. Ms. Aitken writes an engaging tale that sub-genre readers will relish.
