Book Description

From Robert Kent, author of ALL TOGETHER NOW: A ZOMBIE STORY, comes a new tale of terror. College student Brock Clouser is working a summer job delivering pizzas. During a run to the outskirts of Harrington, Indiana, he wrecks his car at an isolated country home. Though most everyone there has been violently murdered, he's not alone.

This is a novelette, not a full novel, and it's mean and nasty and intended for a mature audience. It is absolutely not appropriate for younger readers. It's a gruesome, repugnant tale featuring horrific acts of violence sure to warp young minds. Also, these particular characters speak in EXTREMELY COARSE language.

5.0 out of 5 stars Short and Scary! Couldn't Put it Down! 11 April 2014

I love this author! I previously read his zombie book All Together Now and that one kept me up all night. Same thing happened with this story. Don't buy this if you have anything else to do as you won't be able to stop reading once you start. Here's hoping for a sequel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best, but not the worst either.... 6 Oct. 2014

What can I say? I didn't love it, but didn't exactly hate it either. There were the typical events in "Pizza Delivery" you find in the Horror/Thriller storyline you expect to find, the usual "They can't be that stupid" and the "Don't go that way" moments. Don't get me wrong, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The main character of the story even chides himself for behaving that way, which in turn makes it a completely normal and acceptable reaction to events in the story.

The main character was well developed, the story moved at a perfect pace (can't stand when they drag on forever before finally getting to the point of the storyline), and the ending didn't leave you frustrated over a cliffhanger that had to be resolved in the "next" installment. So three stars for a good read, and a fourth star for an acceptable ending.

While I didn't give the fifth star for loving it to the point I couldn't get enough, I will definitely keep this Author on my "Watch" list so I can read other books by this Author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little Fast Read! 8 Feb. 2015

First of all, the warning accompanying this description is either written by someone who thinks Sesame Street is too gory or by someone hoping to make those of us who love horror want to read it. Yes, it's violent but nothing you don't actually see in a huge majority of television news reports, and as for the coarse language...a few curse words and that's it. So, in other words, you can pretty much ignore that little blurb.
As for the story itself, I really have a hard time with calling it a novella as it is actually shorter than most stories in major anthologies. I think it took about fifteen minutes to read it so I consider this a short story rather than a novella.
Now for what I thought about the story: I really enjoyed it! It was paced just right, the character was developed nicely, and I enjoyed the author's writing style. I would love to read an expanded version or just more from Mr Kent. At first I thought the bit with Olivia was pointless until the ending makes it clear why the reader needed to have that information. If this is indicative of Kent's work, good character development without superflous filler, then I will definitely be watching for more from him.
I read this for free using my Kindle unlimited benefits but had I spent the money to buy it I would not be disappointed in it except for perhaps wanting it to be longer.

This is only a bit over an hour but I have to say I was impressed.

The narration by David Radtke was very well done and took me into the book straight away. I think he did a wonderful job of inflecting when needed and in certain situations when the main character was freaking out, I could not only sense through the plot, but could feel it emanating from David's voice. He sounds like he is narrating from The Twilight Zone at first, while he's giving the specifics about how the incident happened and to set the scene but quickly as you get into the main character, Brock, his voice changes to a more character driven voice.

The plot is amazing and at times I wanted to yell at Brock but I have to say he didn't really do anything stupid to get into this situation, he's just a pizza delivery guy. I was really impressed with the movement of the plot and thought that I knew what was going to happen but I was totally wrong. I think Robert Kent leads us wonderfully down this horrific rabbit hole and shows us things we hope to never see again! Except maybe in his next book.

In short: Wonderful plot and character creation, great narration!
