This short EP was recorded by Jonathan Wilson following the release of 2011's "Gentle Spirit". It shows Wilson both as a great artist and musical detective rummaging out tracks which have often been consigned to obscurity. Obviously this is not the case with opener "Isn't it a pity" a sterling cover of one of George Harrison's finest from "All things Must Pass". It features Graham Nash on backing vocals and captures the regret and longing of the Harrison original, building slowly to huge ending.

"Trials of Jonathan" is a cover of a song by brothers and folk musicians Happy & Artie Traum which was featured on their 1969 album `Time Has Told Me'. Jonathan Wilson brings out the best of the killer riff which underpins the songs and accurately captures that sixties ambience which flows through it. The final track "Tomorrow's Child" is a cover drawn from the little known self titled 1969 album by the bluesy psychedelic Japanese band Apryl Fool featuring some great sounding hammond organ and punctuated throughout by Wilson's fearsome guitar. This reviewer will happily admit no knowledge of Apryl Fool but now intends to beat a part to their door. The EP finally was originally released as a limited edition vinyl EP for Record Store Day 2012 via Bella Union and retails for a ludicrously expensive asking price. But with digital release the in November 2012 this can now be yours for the price of half a sherry. Put down the bottle and buy it.

3 songs. All very different. Each one gets better with every listen. JW and his band are one of the best bands out there at the moment. The best thing about them is the range of sounds they get from the instruments - hugely talented all of them. If you like CSNY, Pink Floyd, Creedence, Beatles, Doors, etc then buy this. In fact if you like good band music, buy it.
