When I picked up the book for the first time I was pleasantly surprised - I was rather expecting a short, low-quality story presented in an uninspiring cover, like a lot of game-based books out there. Instead, you get about 250 pages of great reading, with some nifty cover art and some pictures of plane nose-art. The pace of the book is action-orientated, and jumps through time every now and again - the story is seperated into about 4 "books" each set in a different time and place, but all following the exploits of one man, Nathan Zachary. It seems to follow the history of the Crimson Skies world well, and later in the book the break up of the United States is covered quite thoroughly. There are a few obvious spelling mistakes here and there, which can be quite confusing at times as they tend to twist sentences around. Overall, an excellent read, even if you have never encountered the Crimson Skies universe before. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes sci-fi/fantasy novels - and if you like Crimson Skies, what are you waiting for?
