Yet again Amazon's "people who bought this item also bought THIS" feature leads me to a wonderful book to share with my son.
Jane Nissen is to be commended for reissuing such an original and entertaining novel. We loved the voices, the mad octopus songs, the proud and patriotic affection for Britain's maritime heritage, and above all, the vivid depiction of a different type of childhood to what so many children now experience - being able to run wild and have fabulous adventures.

An old friend, back in print!,

If you enjoyed The Wind on the Moon, you will love The Pirates in the Deep Green Sea. I'm so pleased to see them back in print -- both were read to me as a child and I look forward to reading them to my own little people in years to come. Regard it as a special treat that you can buy these two imaginative children's books and snap them up while you can!

imagination and adventure,

Thanks to other reviewers, I found this book and bought it to see if our sons (7 and 8) would enjoy it as a bedtime story. I'm so glad I did - we all loved it, and they are now eager to read any other books by Eric Linklater. They found the story exciting, funny and full of imagination - it provoked discussions on so many subjects at the end of each night's chapters (one chapter was seldom enough!).
