Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl: Jack Sparrow (Depp, in an Oscar nominated performance) and Will Turner (Bloom) brave the Caribbean Sea to stop a ship of pirates led by Captain Barbossa (Rush), who intend to break an ancient curse using the blood of the lovely Elizabeth Swann (Knightley)... Subtitles: English, English for the Hard of Hearing

Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest: Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is mortified to discover he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation. And as if this weren't enough, his problems prompt the cancellation of the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who are forced to join Jack on another maritime misadventure. Subtitles: English, English for the Hard of Hearing

Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World's End: In the third installation of the ever-popular Pirates series, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, we find our heroes Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann allied with Captain Barbossa in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones' locker. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Chinese pirate Sao Fen (Chow Yun-Fat). Subtitles: English, English for the Hard of Hearing, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Hindi and Dutch.

Pirates Of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides: Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love or if she’s a ruthless con artist using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

The 4-movie collection of Pirates came in a different packaging (instead of 5-disc single box it came i a carton box, each movie separately) which is OK by the way because if they release Pirates no. 5, you can just place it next to the 4 movies you already have instead of placing the single extra movie next to a big single-box collection. And the quality of the cases is very good (ELITE cases) - see my photos. A little disappointing is the fact that each disc looks different (not the cases or inlays, but the discs themselves).

The quality of the movies is great - 1080p is really sharp. Naturally the newer the movie is, the better the quality (the Curse of the Black Pearl looks great in 1080p but On Stranger Tides looks even sharper, with less picture noise. All in all - great quality, great bonuses and great extra disc with bloopers and a documentary.

For the low price the 4-disc Pirates collection is a very good deal.

My son got each film as they came out on DVD but this set in Blu-ray is much better quality than the standard films and make good films great

Great films (on stranger tides, less so) but a little disappointed with the box set itself, it looks very cheap and nasty as if someone had done the printing themselves with a home printer. I would advise buying the trilogy box set and on stranger tides separate (or give it a miss).

The first 3 Pirates movies are terrific, but the fourth movie seems like a typical Hollywood attempt to keep milking a cash cow no matter how it affects the cow! My wife and I were looking forward very much to seeing Ian McShane as Blackbeard, however I felt his character was too one-dimensional - just plain evil, no internal conflicts, no moral dilemmas whatsoever. Davy Jones was a much more intriguing villain, and the other characters were always torn between doing what was right and doing what was expedient. Also, the fourth movie introduces so many new characters that it's hard to keep track of them all (the third movie had this problem somewhat as well).

In any event, this set would be worth the price even if it contained only the first three. The discs play fine here in the USA, and this set is a much better deal than any of the box sets available on this side of the pond.

Not going to say anything about the movies; if your'e buying the disc you most likely already have your own opinion on them. I will however, rate the discs themselves.
Sound and video are good quality. The box set is decent, however, the thing that has prompted me to actually write a review is the subtitles in the first movie (haven't checked the others yet). There are a lot of errors in the English subtitles, which is extremely annoying for such a big franchise. If someone like me, for whom English isn't a first, nor even a second language, can find multiple mistakes in the subtitles, maybe, just maybe, something is wrong with the company that is responsible for them?

I love these films, the forth one not so much as it doesn't have many of the original characters but Jack Sparrow is still good.
The dvd's themselves - I was surprised actually at the lack of quality of the picture. I have a bluray player but chose to get the dvd's because of the price and so I could watch it in different rooms that don't have bluray. That was a mistake as the picture I can imagine would be much improved by going to bluray. I wonder actually if they made the picture worse on the dvd to make it worth getting the bluray. Or is that me being cynical?
After watching the first film though I soon forgot about the picture quality and enjoyed the films

I love Johnny Depp as Capt Jack Sparrow most of all in these movies and the offbeat comedic supporting roles and visual treats. The stories take second billing to the rip-roaring action and ridiculous scenarios. Not forgetting some great SFX, too.

We all know that the best one came out first and they've generally not been so good since. I enjoyed Keira Knightley's zestful enthusiasm and Geoffrey Rush is very inch a seasoned pirate.

This box-set was an easy and cost effective way of getting the complete series as well as giving me a chance of seeing the fourth "On Stranger Tides" as I'd not seen it yet and it'll be a while until it's on TV.

I rated it 3 stars because for some reason theres something slightly funky about the sound track on the first movie, i have an external sound system and no matter what audio i picked including languages i dont speak, it couldnt play it, ive never had that problem before, with old or new movies. Its also odd its only the first movie. Such a shame, it really spoils my enjoyment to have to go back to the speakers on my tv for this one movie, as everything else plays through the external speaker system.

A friend has the set too, borrowed theirs. Same deal.
