Pirates Of The Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest: Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) is mortified to discover he owes a blood debt to the legendary Davey Jones, captain of the ghostly Flying Dutchman. With time running out, Jack must find a way out of his debt or else be doomed to eternal damnation. And as if this weren't enough, his problems prompt the cancellation of the wedding plans of a certain Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), who are forced to join Jack on another maritime misadventure. Subtitles: English, English for the Hard of Hearing

Pirates Of The Caribbean 3: At World's End: In the third installation of the ever-popular Pirates series, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End, we find our heroes Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann allied with Captain Barbossa in a desperate quest to free Captain Jack Sparrow from his mind-bending trap in Davy Jones' locker. Navigating through treachery, betrayal and wild waters, they must forge their way to exotic Singapore and confront the cunning Chinese pirate Sao Fen (Chow Yun-Fat). Pirates Of The Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides: Johnny Depp returns to his iconic role of Captain Jack Sparrow in an action-packed tale of truth, betrayal, youth and demise. When Jack crosses paths with a woman from his past (Penelope Cruz), he’s not sure if it’s love or if she’s a ruthless con artist using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth. When she forces him aboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge, the ship of the formidable pirate Blackbeard (Ian McShane), Jack finds himself on an unexpected adventure in which he doesn’t know who to fear more: Blackbeard or the woman from his past.

The 4-movie collection of Pirates came in a different packaging (instead of 5-disc single box it came i a carton box, each movie separately) which is OK by the way because if they release Pirates no. 5, you can just place it next to the 4 movies you already have instead of placing the single extra movie next to a big single-box collection. And the quality of the cases is very good (ELITE cases) - see my photos. A little disappointing is the fact that each disc looks different (not the cases or inlays, but the discs themselves).

The quality of the movies is great - 1080p is really sharp. Naturally the newer the movie is, the better the quality (the Curse of the Black Pearl looks great in 1080p but On Stranger Tides looks even sharper, with less picture noise. All in all - great quality, great bonuses and great extra disc with bloopers and a documentary.

For the low price the 4-disc Pirates collection is a very good deal.

The Pirates of the Caribbean films arre a really fun series of films, great action romps.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl(2003)-Dir.Gore Verbinski

This film is a ton of fun. The plot is very basic but it works, this is a really fun movie with a big budget and blazing action and effects from start to finish. Johnny Depp is fantastic and funny as Jack Sparrow the pirate, this is his best performance of the 4 films. The action is spectacular, the action consists of gunfights, ship battles at sea and sword fights. The acting is mostly good, Johnny Depp is great, however I am not a huge fan of Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly, I find their performances flat and wooden for the most part and their love story feels a little awkward at times. Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa is a superb villain and makes for a very entertaining screen prescence. The cinematogrpaphy is good and the movie looks really cool. The music is amazing, the soundtrack captures that rompy adventure feel. Overall this film is great it is quite long at 2hrs 23mins but it moves quickly and never feels dull, its such a fun adventure, really worth it. 9/10

Pirate of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest(2006)-Dir.Gore Verbinski

Dead Man's Chest is actually my favorite of the series. This movie is really good. The plot is much more engaging, the search for Davy Jones' heart and this movie is darker which is great. Gore Verbinski's direction was better for this film. I love Davy Jones and his back story its so interesting because you really feel sorry for him, he's a broken man and its sad to see him reduce to such grotesque appearance and you really sympathize with him, he's a tragic villain.

This is a great purchase for anyone who either likes this franchise and is thinking about an upgrade to BluRay or is new to it and just wants to get into it.

I really liked the first three parts while the fourth one was okay-ish. They are all pretty fun, entertaining and adventurous rides. Perfect Popcorn flicks.

All four films got a beautiful transfer on the BluRay. The picture quality is consistently fine, detailed and sharp. You'll hardly find any irregularities with these blurays. The picture quality does increase as you go further down the sequels. I guess it is because of the higher budget and production values of the later parts. The jungle scenes in particular look really stunning.

Sound quality is superb. Every bullet, every creak a ship makes, the howls of the kraken, the roaring score of Hans zimmer, everything sounds wonderful, powerful and detailed. You'll definitely have and earful with these movies.
One thing to note, Parts 1-3 have LPCM loss-less 5.1 audio but when you play the disc, the default audio is chosen as the regular Dolby Digital 5.1 one. You have to manually set it to LPCM.

The package comes in a thin and flimsy box which contains all four films in separate thin cases. Would have liked it if the Box had a more better quality.

All in all, a good box-set at a really great price.

Great films (on stranger tides, less so) but a little disappointed with the box set itself, it looks very cheap and nasty as if someone had done the printing themselves with a home printer. I would advise buying the trilogy box set and on stranger tides separate (or give it a miss).

The first 3 Pirates movies are terrific, but the fourth movie seems like a typical Hollywood attempt to keep milking a cash cow no matter how it affects the cow! My wife and I were looking forward very much to seeing Ian McShane as Blackbeard, however I felt his character was too one-dimensional - just plain evil, no internal conflicts, no moral dilemmas whatsoever. Davy Jones was a much more intriguing villain, and the other characters were always torn between doing what was right and doing what was expedient. Also, the fourth movie introduces so many new characters that it's hard to keep track of them all (the third movie had this problem somewhat as well).

In any event, this set would be worth the price even if it contained only the first three. The discs play fine here in the USA, and this set is a much better deal than any of the box sets available on this side of the pond.
