Pirates of Black Cove

Manufacturer's Description

It’s the 16th century, the golden era of pirates, and this is your chance to become the pirate king and conquer the Caribbean. Start out as a humble pirate and earn fame and notoriety to become a recognized pirate captain.

Eventually you will be able to join infamous pirate strongholds like Port Royal, Tortuga and others. Getting promotions within the pirate brotherhood requires force, daring, guile and even deceit. But be careful because other pirates will be competing for promotions too. However, bribery, favors and outright assassinations will assure you climb the ranks faster. As you are promoted to higher ranks, you will own, manage and develop parts of the stronghold and entice other captains to join your fleet. After building your fleet destroy the other two pirate strongholds to become the King of All Pirates. Combining elements from fast-paced naval action to light town management, Conquest of the Caribbean is a game no pirate fan should miss.

This game is very good, well worth the money. It is a bit like Mount and Blade in that you can explore an open world (ocean) and take on missions, upgrading your ship and army as you gain more gold. It successfully combines elements of a real time strategy game in land battles and arcade action in the ship-to-ship battles. The missions you can undertake are varied and good fun. The only criticism I have is that the game does not come with a manual, either in the box or on the disk. Fortunately the manual can be found online, though it is rather thin. There are however lots of tutorials that explain how to play.

Not bad, but not great either. So funny moments, but the gameplay is let down at times when you are traveling from one point on the map to another (both on land and sea)and it just takes ages, you have time to go and make a cup of tea...... My 8 year old son loves it as it's simple and easy to pick up. The sea battles are the best bit. Check this game out if you find it in the sales for under five pounds. Also, be warned this game requires you to install Steam onto your PC, so if you are not a fan then avoid.

this game reminds me of sid meier's pirates from years ago, just lots of sailing around sinking ships and getting loot. The main quest line is fun but you can explore a little without worrying about losing out on a mission

It's lame. If you're five years old you may find it slightly amusing. It's a cheap dip in and out game but made on the cheap and poor quality graphics for the year it was released. It's for kids, aye x
