Really poor quality materials and finish.
on 13 December 2013
From the second that my daughter opened the parcel she was disappointed. She knew that it was not a genuine Build-a-Bear product simply by looking at the quality of it. The materials are flimsy and of poor quality, nothing like the quality of genuine B-A-B products. The bottom of the trousers are cut without being finished and there are threads already hanging from them even though it has not been taken out of its plastic cover yet. Some of the edges on the top are finished by being sewn over the top and cut at the back without them being finished with overlocking to prevent them from fraying. Other edges on the top are simply overlocked and whilst they are unlikely to fray, they look terrible. The head scarf is finished with overlocking as well. The waistcoat doesn't look too bad from the outside but is finished by being sewn over the top and cut at the back without being finished with overlocking to prevent it from fraying. The eye patch is the only item that is finished properly and looks ok. My husband, who is no toy or seamstress, commented that "That looks like it is from the cheapest of market stalls - you can see where it is fraying already". This item was bought by my brother, who does not have children, not knowing that there are genuine, high quality Build-a-Bear products available. I cannot even say that you get what you pay for since this outfit is £7.99 plus £2 postage. It is worth about £2. If I had bought it I would return it. However, I cannot upset my brother by telling him he made a mistake.
Please note that I have never written any negative reviews for products before.
