As her family and neighbours look set to be devoured by the aquatic carnivores, Julie must risk everything to take them on herself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and gory..lighten up folks ! 13 Jan 2011
Format:Blu-ray
I had to give Piranha 4 stars just to even out these rubbish reviews that are so wide off the mark it beggers belief, people seem to have taken this movie way too seriously ! Lighten up folks ! What did you expect? a serious frightening horror like Halloween or Susperia !

This has to be the most fun i've had watching a movie in 2010 ( apart from kick ass), it delivers everything it says on the tin, you want gore ? - you got it, you want T&A and hot girls ? - you got it, you want a tight paced action movie? - you got it, you want some dumb funny lines and humour? - you got it. You want a couple of cool cameos from Richard Dreyfuss reprising his role from jaws and Christopher Lloyd reprising Doc Brown? ( ok well the latter isn't true but it's very doc like!) you got it all folks!

This isn't really a remake of joe dante's 1978 original, it has a different story entirely and this is more a reboot than remake. The spring break setting works for the movie and the story is slightly reminiscent of jaws in places. Big seaside weekend is being threatened by killer shark..er..i mean fish !

Ok ,so it's dumb ! It's meant to be!!! it's not supposed to be straight horror or high art but if its entertainment you want in a tight paced 88 mins then this movie delivers. Lines like "They stole my penis" weren't put there due to a bad script with poor dialogue, it's meant to be that way!. I personally found this movie hilarious in places !

When i saw this movie i got exactly what i thought it would be , a dumb comedy horror with lots of gore and i was completely happy when i walked out of the cinema with my expectations delivered.

GREAT FUN BUT PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS MOVIE SERIOUSLY !

5.0 out of 5 stars Here fishy fishy fishy! 29 Dec 2010
By Mr. R. W. Graham VINE™ VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
The original Piranha is a dreadfull shameless cash in of the classic film Jaws. Piranha 2 is only worth watching as a curiosity piece as it's the debut of one James Cameron. Hopes weren't high for this remake, in fact i was thinking why on earth are they even bothering? And it's probably fair to say that a lot of you out there were probably thinking the same. But Piranha the remake has defied the odds and is probably the best horror remake of all time. A gloriously silly, tongue in cheek, very trashy and very enjoyable horror movie and lots of fun to watch with a great cast playing it completely straight and 2 great cameos from Richard Dreyfuss, probably wishing that he had a bigger boat, and Christopher Lloyd. It also features model Kelly Brook and she gives a surprisingly decent performance. I wouldn't go as far as saying that she's oscar material, she's nowhere near that good, but considering the last thing i saw her in was an early episode of Smallville and she was dreadfull in that it's not bad. On the other hand, if they gave out oscars for best nude scene, then she'd probably win hands down with the most ridiculous girl on girl scene that you'll ever see. Great fun and a joy to watch, and very gory, just don't take any of it seriously.

4.0 out of 5 stars A turbot-charged gill-ty pleasure... 7 Jun 2012
By Cartimand TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Blu-ray
Oh for Cod's hake! Some reviewers seem to have taken this outrageous black comedy far too seriously (and keep carp-ing on about it).

Piranha 3D is an absolute blast from start to fin-ish and a whelk-ome change from more serious horrors. Sure it doesn't demand much of the viewer - you don't have to be a brain sturgeon to enjoy it, but there's plenty of gore and tench-on, even if the humour panders to your bass-est instincts. If you mullet over and are willing to skate over its limitations, I'm sure you'll agree it is not a load of old pollocks and this blu-Ray dolphinately deserves 4 star(fish)es.

Those of you who trawl through it nit-picking and claiming it lacks porpoise will find plenty of oppor-tuna-ty to criticise, but I say on yer pike mate and don't be so shellfish. In fact I thought it was brill-iant and I laughed so hard I almost pulled a mussel. Kelly Brook looks rudd-y sexy but she's not the sole bit of eye-candy for us blokes; there are great cameos from adult movie actresses Ashlynn Brooke and Gianna Michaels in a couple of soft-prawn scenes. The 3D effects are far from crappie and they certainly haven't shrimped on the surround sound and pumping soundtrack (for the hard of herring). Bream-ing full of extras, including the director's commentary. Here on Amazon's market plaice it's only going to cost you six squid or so! Comedy horrors like this are MY gill-ty pleasure. What seahorse?

(Hoki. I know I'm no dab hand at this and have plumbed the depths with some of these fishy puns, so if salmon else can think of any batter ones then please don't be koi and let minnow...)

One of the best sea predator/horror movie's I've ever seen. The graphic and 3D effects are fantastic. One of Aja's best and I would highly recommend it.
