Wow! 20 Jun 2007
Format:Audio CD
I saw Metronomy at O2 wireless this year, and thought they were amazing. Completely different from anything else I'd heard. Following that I went in search of an album, and I'm glad I did. It's a great album of off the wall electro-madness. There are 2 stand out tracks to lok out for 'You Could Easily Have Me' which has an electro-rock sound and an amazingly catchy riff. The second is 'Trick or Treatz', the only track on the album with vocals, an grimy, dirty club sounding track with great vocals.

If you like a bit of crazy electronica and don't mind something a bit experimental, then buy this album, it's a sure-fire winner.

Having played 'Night Out' relentlessly and enjoyed some of it's quirky ideas within some of the instrumentals, I looked forward to 'Pip Paine' and wasn't disappointed. Opening with 'You Could Easily Have Me' is a stormer and was excellent when seen live recently. The rest of the album is decent and I've enjoyed playing it whilst working. A few vocal moments but is quite some way from 'English Riviera' if that's been your route to Metronomy. If that's where you've come from, try 'Nights Out' first although I've found this to be a more than satistacory purchase.
