Fantastic AVR and at a great price when you consider if you order through amazon (peter tyson) you get a free blu ray player. also this is essentially the same AVR as the SC LX 53 (minus aluminium facia) which at one time was 1300 (now closer to 1000). More than enough power for any home application and more connectivity than you will ever require, one point i would make is about the size, specifically the depth. You will require an open backed tv stand as this unit is very deep especially when you have all your equipment connected, also the measurements stated on amazon dont include the volume dial which adds another 30-40mm and may be a problem if you have an enclosed cabinet like me. other than that im extremely happy with my purchase even if the neighbours arent.

If you're after room filling power, the Pioneer vsx-2020 should still be on your demo list, esp. at the knock-down prices its available for.Action movies will shake any medium sized room to its foundations, with detail & almost intimidating dynamics. But it doesn't go harsh or bright,in fact its a neutral to warm sound at average to loud volumes, but really pushing the volume is where the fun really is: It can tread along at biting atmosphere then jump into instant chaotic action, again without overdoing it.Its outrageously good in multi ch DTS-HD MA & True HD,while holding quality for legacy codecs...great stuff!!!

I messed around with some of the video conversion, which BTW is excellent for tuner/set-top boxes with no on-board scaling, but couldn't get it to improve on my own Pioneer bdp. It Plays 3D movies through with great stability & ARC is great for changing inputs on tv ,while sending sound from said source. Also, ive had worse remotes to be honest & i became used to it fairly quick, although the glowing red buttons are many in the dark, its typically pioneer.

Music though, has to be fed through properly because if you feed it any bad youtube 2ch stuff or badly streamed or ripped tunes, you wont put up with it for long,no matter what processing you use to try hide the noise, you'll be covering your ears, But...feed the AVR a decent CD or track from a decent source & its surprisingly good in straight 2ch stereo,i can't decide if PQLS makes a difference, but it sounds like it has good grip with the feature turned on... Or if you want to punch it with your subwoofer, try extended-stereo if you like a bit more punch with a little less refinement..

Now in my opinion this great movie/music sound is only possible after running MCACC & tweaking it to your liking...eq.

THIS A/V RECEIVER HAS LIKE ITS CLONE (LX-53) ALL YOU COULD NEED FOR A TOP HOME CINEMA. THEN IT'S ONE OF THE MORE EXPENSIVE MODELS SO YOU 'DO' GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR AND IF YOU'RE NOT CAREFUL YOU COULD BE CHARGED UP TO £1000 AT ITS RETAIL PRICE.

LOADS OF HDMI OUTPUTS/THX CERTIFIED/5.1/7.1 OR EVEN 9.1 IF YOU WANT TO IMPLEMENT DOLBY PRO LOGIC IIz WHICH ADDS HEIGHT.

THIS IS NOT FOR A NEWBIE BUT FOR AN ADVANCED USER WHO IS SERIOUS ABOUT HOME CINEMA WITH A VERY LARGE SCREEN PERHAPS.

THE AUDIO COMPONENTS ARE OF VERY HIGH QUALITY AS CAN BE HEARD IN THE SOUND IN ALL ITS DIFFERENT FORMS IF YOU WANT TO SET IT TO A PARTICULAR GENRE OF FILM YOU WATCH LIKE ACTION OR SCI-FI OR QUIETER DRAMA.

THE INTERNAL SCALING/PROCESSING ABILITIES ADD TO THE PICTURE BETTER THAN ANY BLU RAY PLAYER'S I'VE TRIED SO YOU HAVE THAT 'EDGE' OF QUALITY/BETTER PICTURE THROUGH THIS STATE OF THE ART MODEL.

NETWORK CAPABILITIES INCLUDED.

ALSO THIS IS THE FIRST A/V RECEIVER THAT PLAYS STEREO MUSIC THROUGH 2 FRONT CHANNELS THAT IS EXCELLENT ALSO WHERE THE EXTRA MONEY IS SEEN (I MEAN HEARD).
