I bought this to replace the stock Pioneer drive originally fitted to my moderately ancient PowerMac G5, which had given up the ghost when it came to reading and writing DVDs. As I'd hoped, it was a simple case of prising off the fascia plate and following the simple installation instructions available as a PDF from Apple's website. Installed, it works a charm: smaller, speedier and quieter than the original drive - for the money one can't go wrong.

As this drive uses an ide interface this drive is ideal for older pcs. The drive is both fast and quiet. It appears to be better made than my failed lg model that it replaced. Very happy with the drive
