The DVR-112D writer is extremely quiet and practical. You can write 4 hours of standard footage or 2 hours of high quality footage to a Dual / Double Layer disc in approximately ten and a half minutes. The high write speed of 18X is achieved with DVD-R and +R discs through the adoption of the CAV recording system, while Pioneer's proprietary technologies ensure the disc has been recorded accurately and efficiently.

Wasn't sure if it was entirely sensible but I thought, as the price is so reasonable, I would order this DVD Writer as a replacement for a Pioneer DVD 111DBK which had only lasted one year! I was also concerned about the other review saying it arrived damaged twice as it was in an oversized box with no packing. So, it was compatible, well priced and I had a great need...oh....and I trust Amazon! It ticked enough boxes for me to take the chance.
Box arrived next day. The packaging was slighty bigger than the unit and had one brown box inside another. Yes, the unit could slide about an inch backwards and forwards but I didn't feel like it would have caused a problem. Anyway, mine arrived in perfect condition and worked properly as soon as installed. Only hope is now it lasts longer than the last one!

Ordered this item and it arrived within a few days in a large cardboard box, wrapped in bubble rap. I installed the device into a free bay and connected both internal cables to it. I have this as my main dvd drive and use the other one as a secondary unit. The Pioneer DVR-112D does not come with any cables, however your P.C. should have an internal power splitter cable and an IDE cable to connect to it, if not they are not that expensive to purchase and just attach it to one already there. If you just want to replace the one you already have, then disconnect the current drive and replace it with the new one. Instructions come in a fold up sheet and are clear and well explained, with a few diagrams.
I've burned a few dvd disks on it and found it fairly quick and for the price you pay, it is a bit of a bargain. With the addition of playing and recording dual layer disks I have to recommend it.

Ordered one of these in grey and it works perfectly - pretty fast, never had a write problem yet - just connect up to the internal cables as normal and off it went.
