Product Description

Tap into the power of portable digital music with the Pioneer CD-IB100 iPod adapter. Start with any Pioneer head unit

equipped with an IP-Bus connection and use the optional adapter CD-IB100 to link your iPod to your sound system for

(literally!) days of your favourite digital music. Pepping up a long distance car drive or spicing up your daily commute, the

Pioneer iPod adapter also does double duty as an iPod charger.

Free to drive: Simply connect your iPod to the Pioneer iPod adapter for distraction-free, hands-on-the-wheel safe

driving. Your iPod completely integrates into your familiar sound system. Control it just like you normally handle your in-

car audio: right on your head unit, using the remote, or best yet, using your steering wheel remote control.

Free to choose: Make the call on the in-car positioning of your iPod, once you've hooked up. Anywhere is practically

possible: conveniently at your side in the console or on the passenger seat, on the dashboard, or safely tucked away in the

glove compartment. This way you can easily decide whether you want your iPod close at hand, or well out of sight of thieves.

Free to listen: Just a quick glance at your head unit says it all: song, artist, album and more. Via the head unit

or remote, you scan the music you want by playlist, genre, artist, album or simply search for a specific song.*

Bet you never thought a head unit could be this cool? Clearly, it is time to indulge your digital lifestyle and enjoy

thousands of songs on your iPod without a single tad of quality loss - all thanks to your Pioneer iPod adapter.

* Depending on level and age of headunit used functionality and display will be limited. Only the AVH-P5700DVD will display

full touch screen control menus and offer easy to use on screen displays.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not fit for the purpose, 5 Feb 2006
By Mr. Rupert Willard "ilard" (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This iPod adapter is very, very poor. I have it fitted to an Avic-X1R (a touch screen Pioneer sat nav / DVD system). The sound quality from the iPod is excellent, however, the control mechanism is what really lets it down.

It only displays the first Eight characters of the information you select, e.g song title (even if you have a big TFT screen like on my head unit). You do not get to see the track number a the same time or ANY other information. Searching for tracks is a massive road hazzard as it takes so long. To search by Artist you start at A (or Z) and keep going until you hit it. But you cannot just quickly flick the controls on your head unit and whizz from Air thru to The Thrills. No. Because each time you nudge the controls and move to the next artist you get like a one or two second pause. Infuriating!

Do not buy this unless you are desperate or have the AVH-P5700DVD head unit. Wait for next generation adapter, otherwise.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great device if you can live with the quirks., 16 May 2006
By Phil M (NE England) - See all my reviews
After reading other reviews, I wasn't expecting the earth from this box of tricks, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Sure the operating interface was never going to be as slick as that on the ipod, but its not bad. Controlling the more advanced functions on my 5G ipod from my P9300R head unit is a bit tedious, but just pick up the ipod, prod the menu button a few times and you can select tracks as you normally would. Not displaying the full track information is a minor annoyance, but if you are spending that much time staring at your dashboard should you really be driving!?! Like many other ipod users, I had been struggling with another 'wireless' method of playing tracks in my car - the poor sound quality and constant retuning were driving me insane. The sound quality from the adaptor is spot on and I can now receive traffic broadcasts again.

All in all this is a great device, but anything other than skipping tracks etc is best done on the ipod itself.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's not perfect, but it sounds great!, 29 Dec 2008
By Krissii (Shropshire) - See all my reviews
OK, I've been using this in my car with the Pioneer DEH P70BT head unit for probably 3 years or more now. That in itself tells you that if nothing else, the unit is reliable! It charges your ipod as you go which is wonderful, and the little 'brain' of the unit tucks away nicely in your glove box. The sound quality provided by this unit and my system is AMAZING! For sound I really could not ask for more! I love my car stereo and in my car is where I listen to most of my music (especially at high volumes to drown out my warbling!) so quality is very important to me, and this does the job wonderfully! It's not all sweetness and light, but don't take that too harshly! As other reviewers have said, the only problem is the search function. It is a total pain in the butt to scroll and is sooo sloooow. But to my mind, the answer is simple, get creative on your pc and sort yourself some playlists, because picking your playlists is a piece of cake! I have my top rated, my favourites, some sorted by year/era and then of course, I have done playlists by my favourite artists containing all their albums, so I really have nothing to gripe about at all! Hey, I even have a Christmas playlist especially for this time of year! So I have knocked a star off for the search function, but I refuse to knock any more off, because quite frankly, it's great! PS. Just bought my hubby the Harman Kardon Drive and Play for Christmas. That looks fab, no two ways about it, and the little scroll wheel is ace, and scrolling and searching is brilliant, but, and there is a but, mine sounds better! He too has a Pioneer head unit, the DEH P6400R which is a couple of years older than mine and has no line in capability, so he is having to use a wired fm connection. It's good, and for most people, would probably be totally satisfactory, but mine has the edge on sound quality, make that quite a large edge actually! Of course, he could buy a new head unit with line in capabilities, but then, to buy a new head unit now it would probably be ipod compatible anyway, defying the purpose of either of these ipod connectors! So there you go, two reviews for the price of one, and honestly, I'd recommend them both! (the HK can now be purchased for under £30 delivered and is a steal!)
