I have been using this burner for about 6 months now with great results
every time. I have played Bluray films and it handels them fine.
I have backed up and copied all my videos of the family into HD format
and recorded them onto Bluray discs.
This burner is very fast and all the four speed media Blurays have been
recoded at four speed. This product beats the LG and the other cheap brands
hands down for performance money very well spent.

All I can say is, nearly perfect BD writer concerning the burning quality.
But on the other hand it is the third writer I am using right now.
Thanks to Amazon for the quick exchanges!

Arrived through mail as advertised. Installed it in my PC in less than 10 minutes, replacing a standard DVd/cd burner. Works absolutely flawlessly with Verbatim BD-R and BDre and also with INTENSO discs. Have made my own BLU-RAYs from my HD camcorder footage..awesome quality picture on HD plasma. Did alot of research before I bought this drive and in my opinion it is the best one. Only used 25 gig discs so far so cannot comment on 50 gig discs but imagine they will work fine. If you want mass storage of pics and video or just anything you need to store on disc then this is highly recommended.

Drive arrived swiftly, ordered on the 27/12 and it arrived on the 31/12 (supersaver delivery) so thanks Amazon for the great service and price.

As the item description states the drive is sold bare, it comes in a plain brown box with some paperwork explaining the drive spec etc. So just to make people aware that BARE means no screws to hold the drive in position or SATA data/power cables or software. So make sure you have a spare SATA data and power cable in your PC or you will be disappointed when you have the drive but can't install it due to not having the cables! I understood this before I ordered the drive so I was prepared with cables.

The installation was simple, I removed one of my older DVD IDE drives and replaced it with the BDR-205, rebooted the machine and the drive was detected straight away.

    My PC spec is:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
    Intel dual core 2.67ghz
    6gb ram
    Nvidia 8800gts 640mb graphics
    2x 300gb HDD's
    Pioneer BDC-202
    Pioneer BDR-205

I have burnt 2 discs without any issues on Infiniti Professional 25GB 4x. I got 10 of these for £11.99 delivered from another site as I couldn't see any on Amazon's site. The first disc I burnt was just over 17gig which I burnt using Imgburn (free software) at 4x speed (this is max speed for these discs I brought) which took around 16 mins and the second disc was around 22gig and that I thought I would try at 2x which took about 45 mins. Most people say that burning discs at slower speeds is better as you are less likely to have burn/playback errors, and for over a pound a disc most of us want to avoid burn failures!
The discs played fine in a PS3 and Maidston blu ray player.

I know it is still early days but the first impressions of the drive are excellent. I have always brought Pioneer goods as I find they deliver great quality products. My Pioneer BDC-202 is about 2 and a half years old and I have had no issues with it.

Am pleased with the BD-205 so far. It's done all I've asked of it - although writing Blu-Ray discs is strictly limited by how good your software is.

After doin hours and hours of research on which blu-ray writers were on the market i decided to go with this beast and it was a great decision.

I found numerous sites showing that this drive was up there with the best burners and was significantly faster than other drives or on parr with them namely the other LG ones which are far more expensive check the link below for the review [...]

I had no prolem installing the drive my vista picked the drive up instantlty and installed the drivers. The product does come bare but if you already have 2 internal drives u wont need to purchase anything else just a straight swap in and out took me 2 mins; was harder getting my front facia back on than swapping the drive :).

The main reason I got it was primarily to burn the mass of MKV files ive been collecting and storing the best to keep. Im currently using tsmuxerGUI to convert the files to Blu ray format then I am burning these with imgburn. both of them are freeware and very easy to use (if you get stuck google or youtube it itll point you in the right direction.) Now im just enjoying Avatar 3D :) freshly burnt!!

Overal the best drive by far LG had significant installation and software issues and very poor customer support (so ive read) This was cheaper than some drives of the same spec and performed better. Its fast its quite cant ask for any more. excellent piece of kit.

Bought for CD, DVD and Blu-Ray burning. Has worked faultlessly for more than two years on all types. Installed on Windows 7 Professional, four processor PC.
