5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, 10 Jan 2009

I used this product for a while now and I have to say that I am really impressed. I use it as a sound card for my laptop and the quality of the sound is, due to the lack of another word, perfect. Another piece of advice, buy good quality output/input cables for it. You will ruin the perfect sound coming out of it if you use a cheap cable. M-Audio did a really good job on this one.

Sadly, it broke down a couple of months later, not sure why...disappointed it lasted this short but I really enjoyed using it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes play your guitar through your computer straightforward, 4 July 2009

The is the low budget option for an audio interface. I use it to take a guitar or vocal feed into garageband on my Mac.
What's good? 1. It is plug and play and needs no drivers (although you can add more functionally). 2. The controls are logical and simple. 3. It is USB powered so has less wires. 4. it is small, discrete and seems unbreakable.
The down sides:
1. The lack of power means that mike inputs are limited this is only an issue for podcasting where you might want a central mike (this would normally draw power from the interface which this one cant sustain)
2. The settings on a Mac are straight forward but you need to remember to switch between audio inputs / outputs when using different applications. However this is more an issue of the computer rather than the device.
Four stars are for price, effectiveness and simplicity.
One missing for functionality (which I knew when I purchased)
All round good buy

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not great, 20 Nov 2007

I was slightly underwhelmed by the performance of this piece of kit considering its price. I've tried quite a few cheaper external soundcards already and they mostly perform better than this one. The signal recorded is not particular clean - not terrible but not as good as some cheaper soundcards. I experienced some latency problems - not severe, but again, cheaper soundcards from other manufacturers performed better in this area too.

On the positive side, this is a relatively cost effective way to record an instrument (guitar perhaps) and vocals at the same time. To be fair, it does what it says on the tin, just not quite as well as I had hoped.
