I bought Pinnacle Studio Ultimate as I needed some editing software which was compatible with Vista and not too pricey and I have to say it is a decent piece of software, the things I am most impressed with on this edition are the sound effects as you can really manipulate sound I.E change whereabouts the sound is coming from with surround sound, so for example in the bottom right hand corner and also you are able to manipulate sound by adding echo or jarring it so that it sounds as if it is in a specific location. It also features the standard video effects such as transitions titles etc you would expect with the slightly more high end effects of green screen and croma key (which I am yet to try out). So for you amateur filmmakers I would deffinately recomend this, however make sure your computer has a high enough spec to cope with it or you will end up with crashes etc as the other reviews have reported

I started off in the video world using PowerDirector 7. However I found it didn't do everything I needed and also had a burning fault that no-one could solve. I then tried Magix Movie Edit Pro 15 Plus but found that, again, it didn't do what I wanted. It had a lot of bells and whistles but wasn't very good at the simple things. I sent it back and then decided to go for Pinnacle Studio which I'd heard a lot of good reviews about. That was one of the best decisions I'd made. This software does absolutely everything I want it to do and lots of things that I wasn't expecting but now make full use of. Very easy to use and comes with a good 300 page manual that is also very clear. I would recommend it to anyone who is wanting to be able to make a professional looking video from home, but doesn't have much time. It didn't take me too long to get to grips with the program, but I had already watched all the tutorial videos on the pinnacle website.
As I said in my title, this is the perfect software. There is nothing I would want to change about it.

I have used Studio since its earliest version and my experience has been that Pinnacle appear to specialise in producing buggy, unstable versions of Studio and if this is what you want you won't be disappointed!!! Version 12, after various patches, was reasonably stable. So far V14 has been prone to constant crashes and freezing. This is on a high spec PC optimised for video editing. Worse still when it does hang it is utterly impossible to stop it remove it from memory using task manager in Vista. The only remedy is to close down Winodws, re-boot and start again which is very frustrating time wasting experience
Not only that but some of the useful plug in effects for earlier versions and expensive add-ons I purchased for earlier versions of Studio refuse to import or be recognised in 14
There are only a few additional features that make it worthwhile upgrading from version 12:- three extra effects (particles etc), resizable preview window, improved title software (but Title extreme I recently purchased for 12 refuses to work in 14, also Boris Graffitti and excellent one that came with an earlier version also refuses to work) The useful zoom and motion add on in previous is absent and refsues to import.
I am finding it hard to justify why I wasted the money to upgrade for so few advantages and several disadvantages. Overall I would describe it as a DOWNGRADE
I recently purchased Core Video Studio X2 (annoyed as a new version X3 is now coming out) So far it seem far more stable than Pinnacle Studio, has extra video tracks. The jury still out but so far it looks far more usable than Pinnacle. If you have version 12 stay with it. Hopefully Pinnac;le will bring out needed patches to make it stable but fopr it not to import all previuous plug-ins in inexcusable.

Crashes quite a bit
Functionality is pretty nice, and I did appreciate the "green screen" cloth that came in the box, ready for you to do your own chroma-keying. Read more

Pinnacle Studio 14
