I recently upgraded from Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus to Pinnacle Studio 10 Plus. The new software installed correctly OK with no problems.
However, I am finding Pinnacle Studio 10 Plus is both very slow, unresponsive and crashes a lot compared to Pinnacle Studio 9 Plus.
Some of the problems I am having are
a) Version 10 takes ages to load an empty project. It takes over 4 minutes compared to less than 30 seconds with Version 9
b) Version 10 takes ages to open existing Version 9 project and convert it
c) Version 10 crashes when trying to save the converted project
d) Version 10 crashes when trying to edit the converted project
e) Version 10 crashes when editing a new project
f) Version 10 is very slow at editing and when previewing
Problems a) and b) I can cope with (just requires patience), but the other performance problems are critical. I have tried downloading the latest patch (v10.1.2) but that does not fix any of the problems. I have also tried contacting Pinnacle Support but they are unable to help other than advise simply un-installing/re-installing. Please note that the problem is not my hardware since I have powerful enough PC (Intel 2.8Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 30Gb free hard disk space running Windows XP Pro).
Personally speaking as a fan of Pinnacle Studio software, I cannot find anything good to say about Version 10 over Version 9 and I am very disappointed. The reason I bought the Version 10 upgrade was a quote from your website "Experience the power, quality, reliability and pinpoint control of the professionally esteemed Pinnacle Liquid Edition Engine that now drives Studio 10. The Liquid Edition Engine brings you higher quality results in considerably less time". So I figured that if I upgraded I would get a few new nice-to-have features, but more importantly better reliability and performance. For improved performance alone I would have been prepared to pay Pinnacle upto £100 for an upgrade that offered the same easy-to-use interface but which ran 50% faster. Sadly however, I suspect that upgrading from Version 9 to Version 10 is a disaster for most customers.

In theory - moving some of the load to the graphics processor was a good idea as it lightens the load on the CPU. In practice however this has been a disaster for the Pinnacle brand. After Studio 8 you would think that they learned the lessons of releasing flaky software S9 was (and is) a decent, well specified and stable product that works most of the time on most systems. S10 however is barely stable enough to form an opinion - as many of the features cause it to crash or just plain don't work. Pinnacle must be working all hours to patch this thing up and they will undoubtedly get it working. However until you start reading reviews that say they have I would steer clear for the time being. Basically if you are in the market now and cannot wait - check if your CPU is SSE2 compliant and if so I would look seriously at Adobe Premiere Elements instead.
Studio 10 can and one day probably will be a great product - you decide whether you can be bothered to wait and see.

I've been using Studio since version 1, and I think the user interface is the best there is, but sadly with Studio 10 the bugs have made the software unusable. Lock-ups and crashes are the order of the day - I have wasted a large chunk of my life on this program trying to get it to work. Now I have given up, and returned to Studio 9 ( which seems to work well).
A word of warning - if you use Studio 10 on your projects, they won't run again under Studio 9 - the files are different. Make a copy first.
My advice is to steer clear until Pinnacle get it sorted.
