Adorable tale of sibling rivalry and the power of the imagination 28 Jan. 2014
By Melissa's Eclectic Bookshelf - Published on
Format: Hardcover
Zoe travels her home and yard imagining herself a princess and discovers the magic of baking wishes into her cupcakes. Every girl who ever wished to be a princess, or simply to be temporarily rid of a meddling sibling, will enjoy this tale. It is an adorable tale of sibling rivalry and the power of the imagination.

No real problems are solved in Pink Cupcake Magic but the tale is fun and the illustrations perfectly delightful. I can't stop myself from flipping through just to view the pictures every time I walk past this book!

Cute with a hint of magic 23 Feb. 2014

Format: Hardcover
I think I am a little too critical of children's books. Being a mom, I really try to think of what is a good lesson for children and what isn't. I did think this book was cute and fun, but there were a few little things that bothered me. With that said, my daughter loves it, and that's what really matters I guess.

I loved how creative Zoe was. She really loved her cupcakes and love playing make believe. And it's amazing how well a little girl can bake!! Like a lot of little girls, she also loves princess's and she makes a wish as an ingredient to her cupcakes to become one. She is helpful and nice to the "kingdom" of animals, but she isn't very nice to her brother.

Here's where things bother me. Well, for one, what is a little girl doing using the oven without a parent around? And also, she calls her brother and his friends names. I get that she's mad that they keep taking her cupcakes, but it doesn't seem like a good lesson to teach kids. Then she gets revenge on her brother and his buddies. Revenge isn't something that should be taught to kids, even if it is just temporary.

This was magical and fun for my daughter, but I did need to remind her while reading that it's not nice to call people names or try to get revenge on them. Otherwise it's a great story. When I asked my daughter what she thought of the book she said "I really love it!". It's an entertaining book for kids and as long as they know correct behavior and to not follow what books might tell you to do, it's all good. This book also includes a recipe in the back to make Pink Cupcakes!! (Magic not included)

An Irresistible Book 29 Jan. 2014

Format: Hardcover
A deliciously written books for fans of cupcakes, and fairytales, this a children's book I highly recommend picking up. We absolutely loved it. Having a little girl who LOVES all things pink, cupcakes and imaginative play, this was the perfect book for her. I've loved all the times we've sat together reading this book. The story is simply adorable as are the illustrations. You can't go wrong with a cute story, adorable illustrations, and having a recipe for cupcakes included in the back of the book. Yes, I said a cupcake recipe! This is an irresistible book that's a must have for fans of all ages.
This book isn't just for girls! 8 May 2014

Format: Hardcover
I originally bought Pink Cupcake Magic to support Kristin Varner (a friend of mine & the illustrator of this book). I read it to my sons (ages 7 & almost 4) that night & they adored it! In fact, it is now in the rotation of favorite books in our house (& we have loads of children's books). The story is cute & the illustrations are charming. We've even baked the cupcakes using the recipe included in the book! This book isn't just for girls....I plan on buying another copy for my nephew as well!

Each time Zoe makes her amazing cupcakes her brother and his friends find a way to sneak them away from her. Zoe has had enough and whips up a special magic batch hoping it will keep them away once and for all. Pure magic does happen and they are turned into frogs once they eat them.

A recipe is included to whip up a batch of Zoe's Pink Cupcakes!
