Product Description

Elvis Presley may be the single most important figure in American 20th Century popular music. He was the musician most responsible for popularising Rock & Roll on an International level. In November 1955 RCA paid Sun $35,000 to buy Elvis's contract, with the singer's personal payment of $5,000 immediately funding the purchase of his dream car, a shiny new Pink Cadillac. Now managed by the shrewd Col. Tom Parker, Elvis's career went into overdrive and the 24 songs collected on this album were all products of a year of frenetic and hugely successful recording in 1956. With attractive packaging this compilation is a great addition to any music collection. * All original recordings digitally remastered * Hear the true birth of Rock & Roll with the original recordings of the melodramatic Heartbreak Hotel, Carl Perkins's defiantly iconic teen anthem Blue Suede Shoes & the fiery brilliance of Lieber & Stoller's Hound Dog * 1956 was the year of Rock & Roll and Elvis was unstoppable. His covers of classics like Tutti Frutti, Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Long Tall Sally and Rip It Up remain unrivalled * Also includes more melodic songs like Don't Be Cruel and the closing ballad Love Me Tender, the soundtrack to Christmas in 1956

Yet another release of early Elvis recordings 6 May 2008
By A Fan - Published on
Format: Audio CD
Yet another release of early Elvis recordings. It includes songs from his early days at RCA like Heartbreak Hotel, Don't Be Cruel, and Love Me Tender. This is a nice collection if you do not already own these songs (which have been re-released numerous times). Many of these early Elvis collections have been released by independent labels since the European copyrights on Elvis' early recordings have expired and the songs have become part of the "public domain" in Europe. Copyrights on recorded material only lasts for 50 years in Europe.
