Later Genevičve goes to the hospital and is introduced to Renaud Sarti, the nihilistic alcoholic vagrant she saved. Genevičve falls in love for Renaud and brings him to her apartment in Paris, initiating a destructive, masochistic and corrupt relationship with the abusive man.
