Product Description

Product Description

It is extraordinary how popular Benedictine spirituality remains to ordinary Christian. There is something timeless about the Rule that appeals to people living 1500 years after St Benedict. Lent, equally, is also something that Christians commemorate 2,000 years since Jesus spent time in the wilderness. Put Lent and Benedictine spirituality together and you have a heady combination that will appeal to many Christians. The author, a Benedictine monk himself, takes St Benedict's view that the Lenten journey is an inner pilgrimage with Christ into the deepest parts of ourselves, to be marked not so much by external observances such as fasting and denial, but by a deepening of our relationship with God. The author wrote this series of meditations during a 15 country pilgrimage during a sabbatical year. At the heart of each of his reflections is the lesson taught about the inner spiritual journey. By applying Benedictine monastic wisdom to the everyday situation we find ourselves in, the book helps modern seekers to keep Lent as a positive, meaningful and fruitful experience.
