Lynne Robinson is the founder of Body Control Pilates, which has become one of the world's most respected Pilates organisatons with close to 1,500 teachers in 40 countries. She has written several best-selling books, among them Pilates for Weight Loss and The Pilates Bible, and presented numerous DVDs. Her influence was recognised by The Times, who called her 'The Queen of Pilates' and by the London Evening Standard who listed her as one of 'London's 300 Most Influential People'. Lynne was a member of the Working Group that developed the content of the national standard for Pilates mat work in the UK.

I have recently commenced Pilates and I found this book to be really helpful. It provides clear information and step by step instructions. It also provides exercises for a number of common age-related conditions which is also very helpful. I would recommend this book for anyone over 40 or in fact for anyone wishing to explore the benefits of Pilates.

Two excellent workbouts. I combine each one with the weights section to give two 55 minute workouts. They are slow and controlled. The goal isn't fat burning or getting up a sweat, the goal is to tone and strengthen.

Am currently reading this book. It's great and gives a lot of detail about the exercises, but it would be even better if there was a dvd or even a cd that could be used while doing the exercises to help with details like when to breath in and out and other aspects that you just can't remember at first without going back to the book. I'm certainly glad I bought this book and will be gradually adding the exercises to my routine as I learn them.

Another excellent book from Body Control. It is very well set out with good photographs, instructions and well laid out. I like the Work-Outs and the sections at the back with reference to specialist populations which also gives recommended exercises for that paticular area. A good purchase for both a student and teacher.
