About the Author

Anna Selby has been involved in many forms of dance and exercise, including ballet, Martha Graham technique, yoga and Tai Chi. Her first interest was Pilates and she wrote the first book to include routines from Pilates in 1985. Since then she has written ten more books on health, fitness and exercise, and contributes features regularly to national magazines and newspapers.

Claire Fone MCSP, SRP, Cert. Health Ed., a physiotherapist who qualified from Guy’s Hospital, London with distinction in 1984, founded the successful Westminster Physiotherapy Centre in 1994 offering clients physiotherapy, yoga, massage therapy and Pilates.

This book is great if you are like me and hate the thought of doing sit ups and crunches! It is really easy to follow with clear instructions and photos; the book offers a variety of pilates exercises that are actually interesting! The best thing about this book is that you get to understand the core principals of pilates, understanding how to apply them and how it affects your posture. The stomach exercises are actually enjoyable and concentrate on lengthening and strengthening. The paperback format and size of the book make it perfect for travelling and the information is indispensable as an ongoing reference.

This book helps you over come the same exercises over and over again routine when working your midsection. Also the pilates is a step up from basic abs movements, it makes you focus on the area and builds strength within rather than just looks. Also recommend The Backsmart Fitness Plan By Dr.Adam Weiss, a great modifed pilates workout and great misection workout to work the whole core area with great results. Both books helped me a lot to reduce and stregthen my stomach and feel better as a result.

Very simply explained, straight forward, with three different levels of fitness. Also very good for people who do not like to jump around e.g. aerobics. Also contains good photos of how the exercises should be done.
