Product Description

Product Description

A freak storm transports Ben to a parallel world inhabited by vampires. He manages to escape to the woods where others like him (called ferals by the vampires) hide. As he begins to give up hope of ever getting home, Ben makes friends with Rachel, a vampire more human than some of the ferals who treat him with suspicion. Rachel takes Ben to her farm in an attempt to prove that she's not like the other vampires, but's that when he discovers a terrible secret. And why is the book called Piggies? That's the worst horror of all.

horror 17 April 2009
By Rubbah
Format:Paperback
a teenage boy enters a parrallell world of vampires, where 'normal' humans are farmed like pigs. Gory teenage horror at it's best, and that's a huge compliment as I don't normally enjoy horror books.

I found this book somewhat difficult to review because the horror genre is not something I generally like. I also found the front cover of a blood-bag rather off-putting, though doubtless quite appropriate.

The story is efficiently and tightly written. The plot gets off to a rapid start, hooking the reader in at once, instead of having pages of exposition and preamble. A teenage boy finds himself accidentally trapped in a parallel universe; a world almost identical to his own, but where vampires are the norm and non-vampires are farmed like pigs for their blood. To avoid capture, he falls in with a gang of non-vampires (known as Ferals) who live wild. He also befriends a teenage vampire girl, constantly fearing she will betray him.

If you’re a teenager with macabre or gothic tastes then read it for yourself, you’ll probably enjoy it much more than I did. The book ends with a reasonable twist. Best suited to young adults rather than children who might be susceptible to nightmares!

Three stars only … but purely because blood isn’t my cup of tea!

Fast paced entertaining novel 6 Aug 2010
By J. Holt - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
A fast paced book about a parallel world where the few humans are either cattle or are forced to live in hiding. I suspect Twilight fans won't go for it as these are the suck the humans dry vampires rather then the romantic kind, but I thought it was a fast paced entertaining novel about a teenaged boy who's transported to a parallel world of vampires and forced to survive the best he can.
