Good all round pigeon book!
on 29 November 2001
This book is recommended both for a novice as well as the experienced pigeon person! The behavioural section contains useful information about how to "Understand your pigeon" as well as the usual info about courtship. Pigeon behaviour was covered in detail and explanations for different behaviours were explained well. There is also very informative information about pigeon and bird diseases. This section gives relatively in-depth coverage of diseases, and discusses causes and prevention and treatment, the book even goes as far as to discuss the physiology of some of the parasites, which for zoologists/biologists is welcomed. The section on nutrient is also good with explanations on the different seeds/peas ect... and there uses in racing, showing and breeding.
As a novice pigeon keeper/ zoology student this is an excellent book with good coverage on behaviour, nutrition and diseases. The section on pigeon breeds is also quite good, with a nice selection of colour photos. The books is also very practical about keeping pigeons and focuses on the realities of having pigeons, such as what to do when you go on holiday!
Generally a good all-round pigeon book!
