At the age of 33, Marco Pierre White was the youngest chef in the world, to win three Michelin stars.     We bought one of these about 4 months ago & it appeared to be a good solid item. We only use it for normal domestic stuff & it doesn't get heavy or careless use. We put the glass jug into the dishwasher (as it says that you can). Then last week the "glue" that holds the blade mechanism into the bottom of the glass jug failed (meaning that eveything just fell out of the jug while it was in mid-function). Amazingly, it is just all held together with glue! We tried re-sticking it, but it failed again. We have now thrown it all away. This item is rubbish.

    Folks, in summary "avoid this blender"
    Pro's:
    Looks great - nice visible design
    glass jug
    great locking mechanism of jug to base
    .
    Cons:
    Incredibly loud
    Cannot remove blades from base of jug making deep cleaning difficult
    Mine was 3 weeks old when it switched itself on (no-one was even in the same room!) and ran at full speed and made an awful electrical burning smell and emitted some smoke.
    .
    Perhaps mine was a Friday night one; but I'd certainly avoid it as I regard this type of fault as dangerous.
    I'd also suggest this is a bottom of the range machine and that most of the money you'll pay goes to the Marco Pierre title copyright.
    Mine got returned.

    I should have paid attention to other reviews!!
    The first time i used the blender the liquids leaked & obviously the seal & thread from the bowl & the motor was not in sync & did not seal properly.
    @nd time i used it the switch unit packed up & I had to hold the button & then the motor burnt out!!
    What a hug disappointment - don't buy this useless unit!!
