The Wire was almost universally acclaimed as being one of the best programmes ever made for TV and I, like many others, was sorry to see it come to an end earlier this year. If you miss the series yourself, but perhaps don't want to buy the DVDs and work your way through the whole saga again then this CD could be just what you need! It is a companion CD to The Wire: Beyond Hamsterdam Baltimore Tracks from The Wire (Hip Hop Edition) and features the tracks listed:

The single disc is packed full of good music which brings back many memories of some classic scenes. This deluxe package includes a slipcase containing a gatefold CD sleeve and well illustrated booklet featuring track details and scenes from the series. Check Amazon's American sellers for the best price as this is an import which some UK sellers charge a very high price for.

Finally, the soundtrack of simply the best TV show ever is going to hit the shelves.
All 4 seasons and the 5th, which is going to air in January, feature incredible and memorable music. I particularly want to get hold of the season 4 opening song and the ending score "The Fall". And what about all the season closing montage songs?! The music styles vary from hardcore rap to swinging country, just like the emotions watching the show.
If there was ever a better way to spend the money, it sure is buying this CD!

The Wire, IMHO, is possibly the best TV drama produced to date, so does the soundtrack album match up? Well, no not quite, but it is still very good and represents great value for money with its "35" tracks. Of these, 12 are not music but top clips from the episodes. The other 23 tracks, include 4 versions of the "Way Down in The Hole" (intro) theme - all of which are superb. There are also a few very good rap tracks. With only one or two tracks that I won't be listening to regularly, I think this collection is an excellent and easy way of remembering the show.

The sorrows of a Wireless world
