What a good band the Quo were in their psychedelic period, and what a great sound. The stereo mixes let the quality of the playing, particularly by Alan Lancaster, stand out. The BBC recordings present some previously unreleased, and unfamiliar tracks, which are great, especially 'Bloodhound'. The album is let down by the harmony vocal on 'Sheila' [dreadful], and the "electronically reprocessed stereo" mixes of 'Black Veils..." and 'Ice in the Sun". Perhaps the orginal masters no longer exist? Apart from that, this is a facinating little album, well worth a spin.
