I look up at Richard with his hopeful eyes. 'Lily?' he prompts. 'Will you marry me?'

How can I say yes to Richard when my heart has always belonged to you?'

5.0 out of 5 stars The best chick-lit book I've ever read! 20 Sept. 2010
I read Pictures of Lily because some-one recommended it to me... and I'm so glad I did! I could not put it down!!! After I read it, I immediately set out to find more of Paige Toon's books, and now, after having just finished reading Johnny Be Good (which was enjoyable yes, but oh so frustrating and disappointing!), I just feel even more enamoured with Pictures of Lily.

I'm a hopeless romantic so this book was perfect for me... it brought back memories of first loves & that idealistic romantic view you have of the world when you're 15, without being too soppy/sentimental. Lily is a very likeable character & you can't help yourself getting wrapped up in her world & her love interest... as the plot unfolds, you'll find yourself hungrily reading until the very end, which does not disappoint!!

If you like romantic stories that make your heart melt, READ THIS!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lily love.. 23 Jan. 2012
By Steph
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was magical from start to finish and a fine example of Paige Toon's amazing writing style. Again paige manages to incorporate some serious topics into a beautiful read and encourages you to feel the same emotions each character feels.

Lily is forced to move to Australia with her mum to live with a man her mother met on the internet. Comi9ng from the UK, you can imagine Lily is not happy about being uprooted to the other side of the world to a place where she knows no one. The beginning of the book is about lily as a 15yr old girl and her time before she starts her new school. Armed with a camera she starts work at the conservation park where her mum's boyfriend works and meets Ben. Ben is 27 and works at the conservation park. Lily develops a crush on Ben and is utterly devastated when he leaves for the UK to get married to another woman. The book then fast-forward around 10 years to the present day where Lily is working as a receptionist, has a lovely boyfriend and a great life. But when she meets Ben again she has a lot of hard decisions to make.

Paige toon captures the mind of a teenage girl perfectly. If you can remember your first crush and all the feelings that went along with it that is exactly how reading this book makes you feel. It can be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster but saying that what good book isn't? I would recommend this book to anyone as it is a beautiful heart warming story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Paige does it again! 12 July 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Once again Paige Toon waves her magic wand and produces a truly brilliant read. Pictures Of Lily grabbed me from the very first page and I literally could not sleep until I'd finished. I kept putting it down to crack on with some housework but kept going back to it like a moth to a flame!
If you loved Paige's previous books, you'll love this. Highly recommended
P.S Look out for a few familiar faces :o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Pictures of Lily 13 Sept. 2010
By Amazon Customer VINE VOICE
Pictures of Lily is an exceptional summer read by Paige Toon. This story reminds you that you can never forget your first true love, they are always with you.

Lily is uprooted from England by her mother so that she can go live with her new lover in Australia. Lily isn't happy about it at all and can't wait to move back to England, well that is until she meets Ben. Ben works at the local national park with Lily's mother's new beau. Lily gets a summer job at the park where she helps Ben out with the koala bears. Over time they grow closer together but Ben moves away before anything serious happens. Lily is heartbroken but remains in Australia. Ten years later, just when Lily's life is on the up and her boyfriend Richard has proposed to her she finds Ben again.

I absolutely loved reading this book. It was a nice balance of love and heart break. I felt as if I felt everything that Lily felt and to me this is the sign of an brilliant read. Lily practically shunts everything that reminds her of Ben in her new life as she doesn't want to be reminded of the one that got away. I was over the moon when Ben made a re-appearance.

My favourite part of the book was when Ben and Lily were taken care of the orphaned koala bear. It was so touching as I am a big animal lover and it was a great way for Lily and Ben to bond over something. Ben always pushed Lily to be all that she can be and follow her passion but in the end Lily turns her back on it as it hurts too much. The old Lily slowly begins to emerge once Ben is back on the scene.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice summer read and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a good love story.

Disclaimer: I do not own this book, my sister loaned it to me. I have not been paid to review this book and everything I have said is of my own honest opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvellous! 16 Feb. 2014
Even after ten years, he is still in her thoughts. Even when her boyfriend of two years proposes, Ben comes to mind.

10 years ago: (at the age of 16) Lily has to move to Australia, because her mother’s got a new boyfriend there. Lily doesn’t want to be there, but then Michael (her mother’s boyfriend) takes her to his conservation park. She takes her camera with her and is fascinated by all that nature and the animals. She starts to work there and that’s where she meets Ben. Ben is 28 years old, but the two of them get along really well.
Also with Michael’s son Josh she gets on okay and they go out together sometimes.
Lily tries spending as much time with Ben as possible and eventually she falls in love with him, they go trough thick and thin together. However, one day she hears, that Ben is engaged and leaving Australia soon. She is devastated. Just a few days before he leaves, Lily overhears Ben talking to a colleague about his feelings, his feelings for her. He is trying to ignore her, but she finds him at his favourite place and tells him, that she overheard. She tries to convince him to stay, but he says, that it wouldn’t work between them and then he’s gone...

Lily moved on. She didn’t pursue her photography dream though, because of him. She now lives in Sydney with her boyfriend Richard (we know him from Lucy in the Sky ;)). At Nathan and Lucy’s wedding (I was soooooo happy to read about them again ;)) Richard proposes to Lily and she says yes, but she doesn’t seem happy about it.
She keeps up appearances, but it turns out to be very hard and then when Lily’s family from England is visiting, she sees Ben again in the zoo.
Both of them cannot believe it, but they are obviously over the moon about it.
