Robert Plant - Angel Dance

When Robert Plant collected the 2009 Grammy for Album of the Year for Raising Sand, and a further five more for his work with bluegrass singer Alison Krauss, it confirmed what has been apparent, that Plant is one of the few musicians of his generation whose appetite for musical innovation remains keen.

His incredible new album Band Of Joy was recorded at Gillian Welch and David ... Read more in Amazon's Robert Plant Store

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine debut from Mr Plant 30 Nov 2010
Format:Audio CD
Robert Plant's debut album still sounds good today.Plant produced it himself and he gives his all on vocals throughout.

Plant recruited the formidable talents of the late ,legendary Cozy Powell on two of the strongest tracks-"Slow Dancer" and "Like I've Never Been Gone".Phil Collins plays drums on the remaining 6 songs to great effect.Bass is played by Paul Martinez whilst Jezz Woodroffe handles keyboard and synth duties as well as co-writing 2 of the songs.Robbie Blunt is a revelation on guitar .He was/is a vastly under-rated musician who also contributed his song writing skills to every track here.My favourite tracks are the two previously mentioned songs and also "Worse than Detroit" but there are no weak links here.

The expanded version has two additional songs-" Far Post" and a live version of "Like I've Never Been Gone" which are most welcome (the latter being over 7 mjnutes long).Plant's next musical adventure would find him taking a slightly different direction but thats another story...

5.0 out of 5 stars Still sounds great 20 years on! 1 April 2002
Format:Audio CD
Coming out in 1983 during the ascendancy of NWOBHM, "Pictures At Eleven" stands the test of time far better than similar contempories but is a very different album from latter Zeppelin issues, clearly intentionally. This, along with excellent drumming from Phil Collins (I have never heard him play better) and the late, great Cozy Powell (who plays here in true Bonham-esque style!) is one of this album's great strengths; coupled with a high quality BIG sound produced by Plant himself. Quality songs, quality musicians, quality sound. Buy it while you can!

4.0 out of 5 stars 198? 30 Jan 2013
Format:Audio CD
Some says '82, others even '83, but I say 1981! That is the release date of Plant's debut album. I saw it with my own eyes(I have normal eyesight) on several occasions in record stores late that year. I happened to visit England during this time, my own nationality is Swedish. As they say: "The beacon doesn't light up its own island". Still I haven't encountered this fact elsewhere...Strange...
