I first spotted these cards in a wonderful book "An Introduction to Tarot - Cassandra Bee", and instantly loved the depictions. I have only been studying Tarot for a few weeks and I am building up a little collection of decks and wanted this one more than anything. They are a beautiful deck and the card quality if fantastic too. However, I have not warmed towards the cards as I had anticipated. My first set was the "Universal Rider-Waite" and although the pictures do not seem as sophisticated, they have so much going on within the cards. Yes, the Pictorial Key cards look stunning, but they seem to lack things. eg. The Fool is minus his dog. the 4 of Pentacles is in a dark looking room rather than in the open air with the buildings and mountains behind him.
Maybe it's advantageous, and you get some different readings from the cards, but they seem to lack symbolism. That said, I still do love these cards, and they are worth the money even if you just want something nice to look at. And I do get pleasure reading into them. Finally, the instruction booklet is very brief, but I am finding that this is a benefit as you need to see your own meanings in the cards and not what someone else tells you to see.
