Gillham has cleverly incorporated a variety of routes to accommmodate both scramblers and serious walkers, with the options of completing circular day-trips or something more challenging. Gillham uses his experience and knowledge of the area to chart the routes, some of which are relatively unknown, and provides a highly descriptive guide. There are so many walking books, in different styles, ones for ridges, others for peaks, some for gentle strolls or scrambles and so on. Since moving to Snowdonia I've amassed a shelf full and when it comes to planning a weekend with my cronies I turn to that shelf. This is a excellent guide book for the serious fell walker.
Useful for both planning a day trip or a weeks holiday and the perfect companion on the hill.

I have used quite a few guides whilst walking, some I have found lacking in information. This guide is excellent, very informative. I have used the guide only a few times and I like the way you can link routes together easily to plan a few days walking or if your just out for a few hours strolling there plenty of options.

Worth having for the collectors among us, and the series of 4 books clearly describes lesser known ways up well known hills, and lesser known hills. Good photographs and diagrams.
