After reading this book you actually find yourself plotting ways you can arrange to have a picnic regardless of inclement weather, time of day, lack of sunlight etc because with this book and all its delicious food ideas you just want to execute them and put them into action as soon as possible. So what if its raining we'll set up our picnic inside becuse the food will still be wonderful!

All too often the word "picnic" conjures up a vision of soggy sandwiches eaten on the beach in a howling gale. "Barbecue" fares little better - leathery burgers and charred half raw sausages. Claudia Roden's Picnics: And Other Outdoor Feasts will change all that. She shows how beautiful food can be served al fresco. Recipes are mixed with anecdote that make the book a pleasure to read when the weather is too foul to contemplate eating outside.

This book has a lot of good information and history about picnics, as well as some tempting recipes. It's not your usual recipe book with pictures and lots of recipes, but it certainly does have great ideas and thoughts for anyone interested in picnics.
